Many people outline the importance of our psychology in what we do but don’t give practical ways to do so. Over the last decade I have worked across 17 competitive sports, acquired 19 international trophies and accumulated over $2.25m in prize money. As a HCPC-registered Sport & Exercise Psychologist, I specialise in helping athletes, coaches, and high performers reach their full potential using e

vidence-based sport psychology principles. Drawing from my experience as both a psychologist and a competitive athlete, I bring practical knowledge of mental skills training, including competition psychology, health behaviors, confidence building, managing anxiety, and sustaining motivation.

The story will either build or destroy you

08/06/2026

This is the trap that most of us fall into when we’re stressed.

We have a tendency of demonising our experiences. Judging ourselves as not being good enough. Telling ourselves the story that other people don’t experience what we are.

We forget that we are not the first, nor will we be the last. Whether it is the emotional fallout from not getting what we’ve been striving for or the angst before doing something outside of our comfort zone.

One of the most comforting things to know is that it is all completely normal.

It is normal to feel anxious about something important to you.

It is normal to be disappointed when things don’t go according to plan.

You will likely have a negative voice in your head judging everything that you do.

This isn’t to say you don’t need to work on it. It is to say you’re experience what the majority of the global population do.

If you’re tried to improve, you can’t keep making the same goal setting mistakes.

The type of goal you use should match the expertise level you’re in. Not every goal needs to be focused on a specific performance-driven outcome.

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT

One of PSYCH-CHEK’s youngest clients, Adam is a force to be reckoned with when on the tennis court.

He has shown high levels of promise at an early age competing against high-level national and county players older than him. Working to develop the mentality of a promising young talent has been incredibly fulfilling. Adam is always interested in learning about mentality and talking about his tennis matches.

Through the support of Mum and Dad, we have reinforced key principles of sport psychology to build a set of tools he can hone in the toughest of tennis tournaments.

Adam’s notable achievements so far:
- Berkshire Champion
- Woking Champion
- Christmas Open G3 Champion
- Competed in National Grade 1
- Took 6th place in the UK National Championships
- Beating UK #1 ranked player

Client Spotlight!

A huge moment for DeVaughno! After years of chasing for Premier League academy trials, DeVaughno was able to go through the gruelling trials process and secured his place at Academy!

This is a huge moment that not only shows how much progress he’s made but those who have supported him for many years. His mother has moved mountains to help him get to this point, so she is just as deservent of the praise.
