A lovely moment from our preschool Communication & Play session this morning. 💙

Marianne, one of our Speech and Language Therapists, is using AAC Grid alongside play to support this young person’s communication, choices and participation.

Our relaxed and friendly summer sessions give parents and children practical ideas and strategies to try together—both during the session and at home.

There are still a few spaces available in the preschool and school-aged sessions if you would like to bring your child along.

🌍 Play happens everywhere... and so does communication.

It happens at home, in the garden, at the park, on the walk to school, in the supermarket queue, at the beach, or even while waiting for the kettle to boil!

This year's Playday theme, "Play – here, there, everywhere!", is a wonderful reminder that we don't need expensive toys or perfectly planned activities. Some of the richest opportunities for communication happen in everyday moments when adults follow a child's lead, join in their interests and simply enjoy playing together.

Whether you're building sandcastles, making up stories, kicking a ball around, splashing in puddles or hunting for bugs, you're doing far more than just playing, you're helping your child develop the communication skills they'll use for life.

🛠️ Quality Control: Serious Business.

During the school holidays, we bring in the big guns. Every piece of specialist equipment has to pass a rigorous inspection:

✅ Does it spin?
✅ Does it light up?
✅ Can it survive repeated testing?
✅ Is it still fun after the 147th go?

We're delighted to report that our Quality Control Team, Rory and Euan, gave everything their seal of approval... after very thorough testing, of course! 😄

We think they're ready for another shift next school holiday...

There wasn’t a serious agenda item in sight this morning at our end of year practice meeting! 🔎🕵️‍♀️

Instead, we swapped serious discussions for a murder mystery from and were joined by a couple of our friends and colleagues from The Psychology Clinic East Anglia.

Everyone threw themselves into their characters, studied the evidence, questioned the suspects and made some fairly wild accusations! We had an absolutely marvellous time, with plenty of laughter and some excellent detective work.

Congratulations to our Top Detective Natasha and a huge thank you to Adrian Kidd from Yellow Mysteries Entertainment for creating such a brilliant morning for us all. 💙🧡

Team Talk the Walk attended the Race Across Norfolk Teams & Sponsors Evening last night ahead of our challenge in September.

It was a fantastic evening and we were treated to a brilliant presentation from Caroline and Tom, the mother-and-son winners of BBC Race Across the World 2025. Hearing about their experiences, determination and teamwork was incredibly inspiring and definitely made us even more excited (and perhaps just a little more nervous!) about what’s to come.

It was also a great opportunity to meet some of the other teams taking part – there’s certainly going to be some healthy competition!

A huge thank you to Colin Lang, the team at Thrive Autism, and everyone at Norwich Blackfriars Rotary Club for organising such a welcoming and inspiring evening.

On 26th & 27th September, Lorna and I will be taking on Race Across Norfolk with no internet, no smartphones and only a limited budget, relying on teamwork, determination and a bit of luck to get us to the finish line.

We’re proud to be raising funds for Thrive Autism and Norwich Blackfriars Rotary Club, helping them continue the fantastic work they do for neurodivergent children, young people and families across our community.

Our friendly advisers are out and about in libraries across Norfolk this August, offering informal information, advice and guidance on:

✅ School issues and concerns
✅ Other SEND-related processes
No appointment is needed – just drop in and speak with us.
ℹ️ Please note:
• Sessions take place in the main library area and a private room is not available.
• We will see people on a first-come, first-served basis.
• During busy periods, conversations may be limited to 20 minutes so we can support as many families as possible.
