Last week, colleagues from Norfolk Primary Care's Research Hub attended the Norwich Health Innovation Conference 2026 at the Norwich Research Park, bringing together partners from across the NHS, academia and industry to explore the future of healthcare innovation and research.

The conference provided valuable opportunities to strengthen existing relationships and identify potential collaborations in areas including clinical research, early cancer detection, women's health, population health management and tackling health inequalities.

As primary care continues to play an increasingly important role in research delivery and innovation, we look forward to building on these conversations and working with partners across Norfolk and Waveney to improve outcomes for patients and communities.

This morning, Laura Oakes, Community Asylum Seeker Specialist Nurse, together with Amy Crawford and Marc Buckingham from the Research Team, attended the Volunteer Extravaganza at The Forum in Norwich.

It was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the wide range of services and support available through Norfolk's voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector, and how these organisations are making a difference to local communities.
The event provided valuable opportunities to network with VCSE partners, explore shared priorities, and discuss how we can work together to support our patients, increase participation in research and ensure our research activities reflect the needs of the diverse communities we serve.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us. We look forward to developing new partnerships and exploring future opportunities for collaboration!

We’re proud to announce that we have achieved DCB1596 accreditation for email security.

This accreditation confirms that our email domain now meets a recognised standard for secure email communications - strengthening protection for our organisation, our partners, and the people we work with every day.

Reaching this standard required significant collaboration, commitment, and attention to detail across the organisation. It reflects the importance we place on data security, cyber awareness, and maintaining the highest standards of digital trust.

At a time when secure communication has never been more important, we believe robust information governance is a critical component of running an effective and responsible organisation.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in helping us achieve this milestone.

We’re proud to share some wonderful feedback from a patient using our Enhanced Access (EA) Service.

At NPC, we understand that accessing healthcare during traditional working hours isn’t always possible. That’s why, in collaboration with our practices across North Norfolk, our EA Service provides patients with greater flexibility to access GP and Nurse Practitioner appointments during evenings and weekends.

By offering appointments at more convenient times, we’re helping patients fit healthcare around their day-to-day commitments, while also supporting local practices by easing pressure on routine and same-day appointments.

Patient feedback like this means so much to our teams. A huge thank you to our dedicated teams working across our hub locations to continue delivering accessible, patient-centred care to our communities.

Dr Olajide Popoola recently attended an Investigator Meeting in Lisbon for an important international study focused on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with investigators and healthcare professionals from around the world, sharing knowledge, experiences, and insights to support ongoing research, collaboration, and improved patient outcomes.

We are honoured to have been invited to contribute to these important discussions and to represent our team on an international platform. We look forward to continuing to support research that advances care for patients living with COPD.

Today, on hashtag , we pause to celebrate the incredible compassion, resilience and dedication shown by Nurses, Nursing Associates and Student Nurses everywhere. 💙

Across hospitals, community services, primary care and care homes, nursing teams are there for people during some of life’s most difficult, emotional and important moments. Their care goes far beyond treatment - it brings comfort, reassurance, dignity and hope.

We also want to recognise the many colleagues and supporting roles who work alongside nursing teams every day to deliver outstanding care. Healthcare is built on teamwork, and today is a reminder of the difference that compassionate people make together.

At our morning staff briefing today, we marked the occasion with a fun nursing and NHS-themed quiz, featuring everything from the famous TV series ER to questions closer to home about the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It was a lovely way to reflect, share a few laughs, and celebrate the people behind the profession.

To every Nurse, Nursing Associate, Student Nurse and healthcare colleague thank you.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 starts today 💚

This year’s theme is - encouraging us all to take small, meaningful steps to support our wellbeing and each other.

Whether it’s taking a break, checking in with someone, or simply asking for support when you need it, every action matters.

Last week Gareth Hughes, our Assistant Director of PMO attended the Integrated Care Delivery Forum hosted by Public Policy Projects.

The forum brought together leaders from across health and care to explore how integrated care can continue to evolve and support delivery of the NHS 10-Year Health Plan. Discussions focused on:

👉Delivering integrated neighbourhood care in practice

👉Supporting ICBs to strengthen their role as strategic commissioners

👉Driving collaboration and innovation across systems, places and neighbourhoods

👉Delivering transformation while managing financial and workforce pressures

👉Advancing digital adoption and enabling data-driven decision making

👉Embedding population health management within prevention-focused care

👉Aligning medicines optimisation, clinical services and wider care pathways across the system

It was particularly valuable to hear from speakers including the SRO for the National Neighbourhood Health Implementation Programme, sharing insights into the future direction of integrated care delivery.

A fantastic opportunity to gain important updates, connect with colleagues across the sector and step away from the day-to-day to reflect on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
