As daylight fades and energy dips, it’s easy to label what we feel as SAD — but what if there’s more to it than just a “disorder”?

What we might be less aware of is that repeatedly telling ourselves “I have SAD” reinforces a trance-like feedback loop in our subconscious.

🧠 Language shapes reality: the more we say “I feel sad,” the more our mind proves it. Instead of pathologising natural shifts in mood, what if we saw them as wise, cyclical responses — like nature itself slowing down in winter?

This isn’t about dismissing how hard low mood can feel. Rather, it’s an invitation: to accept our ebb and flow, to make space for rest and renewal, and to move out of the SAD trance into awareness.

✨ This season, try being gentle with yourself. Give permission for your mind and body to ride the rhythm of the year.

The idea of having a life is, as far as we know, unique to humans.

Around this man-made notion of “my life”, we build – and constantly rehearse – our personal story: who we are, who others are, and how it all fits together.

But when we turn our existence into something we own, we create a split between “me” and “my life”. That split is the root of much anxiety, fear, and suffering.

If we believe we have something, we can also fear losing it. And so begins the struggle to control “my life”.

Deep peace can arise when we recognise that life is not a possession, not something separate that happens to us.

We are life — and life is us.

But don’t take my word for it, try it on for size, see how it feels to you.

In that tiny pause, between reaction and response, lies the power to reshape who we are. When we stop taking things personally and choose awareness over ego, we create space for transformation. 🌿
