✨ Behind Sensitive Soles Therapies ✨

Part 4 - Why the consultation matters

Have you ever wondered why your first appointment includes a consultation before your treatment begins?

It is much more than simply filling in a form. I allow approximately 15 minutes (more if needed) at the start of your first appointment to get to know you, understand your needs and make sure the planned treatment is appropriate for you... together, we will discuss things such as:

✅ Your reason for treatment and what you hope to achieve
✅ Your contact details (to maintain accurate records)
✅ What has brought you for treatment and what you hope to achieve
✅ How you heard about Sensitive Soles Therapies
✅ Your current health, medications and medical history
✅ Previous illnesses, injuries, accidents or operations that may be relevant
✅ Any questions or concerns you may have before we begin
✅ Your consent to treatment

No two people are the same, which is why no two consultations are exactly the same. The information you share helps me tailor your treatment to you, while also ensuring it is safe and appropriate.

Even after your first visit, we will always have a catch up before each treatment. We will talk about how you have been since I last saw you, whether anything has changed with your health, medication or circumstances, and how you felt after your previous treatment. This helps me tailor each session to your current needs.

Taking time to talk before treatment begins, aims to help you feel more relaxed, reassured and ready to enjoy the treatment and allows me to understand the person in front of me.

Although we discuss your reason for treatment and medical history, this is only part of the picture. My approach is holistic, meaning I take time to understand you as a whole person, not just the reason you have come for treatment. As a complementary therapist, my treatments are centred on you as an individual, not on symptoms or medical conditions.

A gentle seasonal reminder 💜

As we head into the colder months, there are naturally more bugs and infections circulating, so I just wanted to share a little reminder about appointments.

If you are feeling unwell, have symptoms of an infection, or think you may be contagious, please let me know and we can rearrange your appointment.

I appreciate things can change unexpectedly, and I will always do the same if I am unwell too.

Looking after ourselves is an important part of self-care too. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do for our bodies is to rest, recover and give ourselves the time we need to feel better.

I really appreciate your support in helping to keep our clinic a healthy and welcoming space for everyone 💜

Happy Sunday everyone 🙂I hope you are having a lovely weekend...

I am sharing October's availability, so you can see a little further ahead and as you will see, I am fully booked this coming week , after a short break from clinic - thank you for keeping me busy 🤗

Also, I am not available Saturday 17th, as I am volunteering at my GP Surgery, helping out with their flu vaccination day (hopefully just guiding people to the correct rooms, rather than administering the jab lol).

*** CORRECT AT TIME OF POSTING ***
Things can and do change, so even if you don't see a time that suits you, please do get in touch, as appointments sometimes become available... and I may be able to find a space that is not seen... it's my super power ✨

To book an appointment, simply send me a message. I would love to hear from you 📩

A little update from Sensitive Soles Towers… 🤓

As some of you may know, I am not working in the clinic until next Wednesday (7th October)... I’m still around though and happy to answer any queries, take bookings and arrange gift vouchers.

The first couple of days “off” have been eventful… and I have to say, Day 1 was definitely my favourite, as you'll see why...

Day 1:

💆‍♀️ Massage with Cassie at CJW Sports Therapy... there was a lot of silent screaming while she “relaxed” my Tibialis Anterior 😂 Thank you Cassie… walking is already a lot easier again... thank you x

💇‍♀️ Hair cut and colour with Amy @ Copella’s Hair Studio in Thorpe End - a little re-set is so good for the soul… thank you x

Day 2:

🧹 Cleaning… which inspired the AI generated Cinders picture attached 😆Although it has been pointed out that my face looks like I am slightly on edge… one more cobweb and I may completely lose it

The next couple of days are a mixture of house renovation and gardening — no rest for the wicked, apparently.

But then I will get a day in beautiful North Norfolk… hopefully including a long walk and maybe fish and chips afterwards. Woohoo! 🐟🍟

📦 It is always a good day when a delivery from Songbird arrives 😁

There is nothing more satisfying than opening a new pot of Reflexology Wax... the 4 pre-blended waxes I use are....

Balance - contains Geranium, Frankincense, Bergamot & Lavender - "does what it says on the tin"

Lavender - a wonderfully calming blend, perfect for encouraging relaxation and supporting restful sleep

Zest - Lime & Mandarin essential oils for a light, fresh & uplifting citrus aroma

Tea Tree & Mint - Soearmint, Peppermint & Tea Tree crwate a refreshing, cooling blend

Although each has its own beautiful aroma, the choice isnt about treating specific conditions, its simply a lovely way to personalise your reflexology treatment.

Which one would you choose today?

When life feels stressful, your body has its own ways of helping you cope...

♎ Sensitive Soles Therapies' Wellbeing Alphabet ♎

E is for... Endorphins

Endorphins are natural chemicals, produced by your body, that are involved in supporting your response to stress, discomfort and everyday challenges.

Often described as the body's "feel-good" chemicals, endorphins are part of a complex system that helps regulate how we experience pain, emotions and wellbeing.

💜 What are they?
Endorphins are chemical messengers produced mainly by the brain and nervous system.

They act as both hormones and neurotransmitters, helping send signals around the body and influencing how we respond to different experiences.

💜 What do they do?

🩹 Help manage discomfort
Endorphins interact with receptors involved in pain processing, helping to influence how we experience physical discomfort.

🌿 Support our stress response
During times of physical or emotional stress, endorphins are part of the body's natural response, helping us adapt to challenging situations.

😊 Contribute to feelings of wellbeing
Endorphins are associated with feelings of pleasure and reward, and may contribute to a greater sense of wellbeing after enjoyable experiences.

💜 Did you know...?
You do not need to push yourself to extremes… gentle, enjoyable activities can also support your wellbeing. Endorphin release is associated with many everyday experiences, including:
✨ Moving your body
✨ Spending time outdoors
✨ Listening to music
✨ Laughing and connecting with others
✨ Enjoying activities that bring you pleasure
✨ Achieving something meaningful to you

💜 A little thought...
Stress is an unavoidable part of modern life, but our bodies have remarkable ways of helping us adapt and recover.

Taking time to do things that help you relax, recharge and reconnect with yourself isn't selfish… it is part of caring for your overall wellbeing.

25/09/2026

Our bodies and minds are remarkable... constantly adapting to the world around us. But in today's always-connected world, even our brains can benefit from a little breathing space.

♎ Sensitive Soles Therapies' Wellbeing Alphabet ♎

D is for... Digital Detox

Technology has transformed the way we live. We can shop, work, stay in touch with loved ones, bank and find information in seconds - all from the palm of our hand, if we so choose.

For most of us, it's hard to imagine life without it… but with that convenience comes a constant stream of notifications, messages, emails, headlines and updates, all competing for our attention throughout the day. For our nervous system, that is a very different environment from the one our brains evolved to navigate.

💜 Always connected
Unlike previous generations, many of us are connected from the moment we wake up until we go to sleep.

Whether it's checking the weather, replying to a message or looking something up online, our phones have become part of almost everything we do.

The challenge isn't that technology exists - it's that our brains are rarely given a break from processing information.

💜 Why is it so hard to switch off?
Our brains are naturally curious and are drawn to novelty - new information, unexpected events and little rewards.

When something catches our attention, the brain can release dopamine, a neurotransmitter involved in motivation, learning and reward. That's one reason notifications, messages and social media updates can feel so compelling – there is always the possibility that the next thing we see might be interesting or rewarding.

There is nothing wrong with dopamine – it is an essential part of how our brains work. Modern technology simply provides an almost endless supply of opportunities to capture our attention.

💜 The attention effect
Have you ever picked up your phone to check the weather... then noticed a message.

You reply to that message, spot a news headline, open social media, watch a short video... and a few minutes later realise you never actually checked the weather!

This is a great example of attention switching. Every time we move from one task to another, our brain has to refocus. While each interruption may only take seconds, they can quickly add up and leave us feeling distracted or mentally overloaded.

💜 What is a digital detox?
A digital detox doesn't have to mean switching your phone off for a weekend or avoiding technology altogether. It can simply mean creating small, intentional moments where your brain has fewer demands placed upon it.

That might be enjoying a meal without your phone, taking a walk without checking notifications or reading a few pages of a book before bed instead of scrolling.
It's not about rejecting technology - it's about finding a healthy balance.

💜 Something to think about...
The next time you pick up your phone, pause for a moment and ask yourself...
"Am I using it with purpose... or has habit taken over?"

Sometimes, a few minutes away from our screens can give our minds the opportunity to slow down and refocus.

The Rhythm of Life…

♎ Sensitive Soles Therapies' Wellbeing Alphabet ♎

C is for... Circulation

Last week, we looked at Breathing, which helps bring oxygen into the body. But oxygen is only useful if it can get to where it is needed... and that is where your circulation comes in.

💜 Keeping everything moving...
Your circulatory system is your body's transport network. Powered by your heart, it carries oxygen, nutrients and hormones around your body while helping remove waste products, such as carbon dioxide.

Every heartbeat sends blood through thousands of miles of blood vessels, supplying every organ, muscle and cell with what it needs to function.

💜 Why does it matter?
Healthy circulation helps keep your body working efficiently. It delivers oxygen and nutrients where they are needed, helping your muscles, brain, skin and organs to function properly. It also plays an important role in healing and maintaining overall wellbeing.

Many everyday habits can help look after your circulatory system, including regular movement, staying well hydrated, managing stress, not smoking and taking time to rest and recharge.

💜 Did you know...?
Your heart beats, on average, around 100,000 times every day, pumping around 2,000 gallons of blood through your body.

Your circulatory system contains around 60,000 miles of blood vessels - enough to wrap around the Earth more than twice.

💜 A little thought...
Looking after your circulation doesn't have to mean making big changes. Standing up a little more often, taking a short walk, stretching, drinking enough water and taking a few slow, mindful breaths can all become part of a healthy daily routine.

Our bodies are constantly working behind the scenes to keep us moving, adapting and supporting us every day. Taking time to notice what our bodies need is a simple but important part of overall wellbeing.
