Recent news from Hull has understandably raised concerns about the care and standards families should expect from a funeral director. We ourselves are shocked and saddened that this has happened to these families.

We are proud to be a National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) member and part of a community of independent funeral directors committed to professional and compassionate care.

We are regularly inspected and voluntarily regulated under the UK Funeral Director Code. Families also have access to an independent complaints process through SAIF, delivered by an externally audited and Chartered Trading Standards Institute-certified body.

We hope these safeguards offer added reassurance that families and their loved ones will be treated with care, dignity and respect.

The Government Department of Health and Social Care have released a press release following the sentencing. Paul Allcock, Government Liaison at the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF), said: "SAIF welcomes the DHSC’s commitment to engaging with the funeral profession on regulation.... We’ll continue working closely with the DHSC and MOJ to shape regulation that protects the deceased, their families and supports a sustainable funeral profession."

Hirst, Vincent & Doreen

Both passed away peacefully at home, only 2 weeks apart. Vincent aged 88 years, and Doreen aged 97 years. Both will be missed by all their family and friends. They were very accomplished musicians and served churches and voluntary groups both in Yorkshire and in Norwich.

In recent times both have suffered from dementia and so the family has chosen a charity that will bring music to other dementia patients as a fitting tribute for their lifelong love of playing the piano and organ.

A Funeral Service will be held at Earlham Crematorium on 5th June at 12.30pm.
