Let’s clear this one up because I think massage gets blamed for making promises it simply can’t keep.
Massage does not melt fat or directly cause weight loss.
But that doesn’t mean it has no place in your weight loss journey.
When you’re trying to lose weight, your body needs more than just eating less and exercising more.
Massage can help you feel less stiff and uncomfortable, support recovery after exercise, encourage relaxation and give you some much needed time to properly switch off.
And when you feel better in your body, you’re often more inclined to move, exercise, sleep well and look after yourself.Massage isn’t a weight loss treatment. It doesn’t burn fat and I’m never going to tell you that it does.
Also massage can help you relax, reduce perceived stress and shift your body out of that constant “go, go, go” feeling.
And supporting your nervous system, getting better quality sleep and managing chronic stress can make it easier to stick with the things that actually support healthy weight loss.
Think:
✨ Better recovery
✨ More restful sleep
✨ Less stress
✨ More awareness of your body
✨ Feeling more able to move and exercise
✨ Time to properly stop and reset
And when we talk about hormones, I think the important bit is supporting the systems that influence them, rather than promising that massage will magically “balance your hormones”.
Your body isn’t a machine that needs fixing.
Sometimes it needs more support, more recovery and a little less stress.
And honestly?
That’s one of the reasons I have a massage every 4 weeks myself.
Your weight loss journey doesn’t have to be about doing MORE. Sometimes it’s about helping your body feel safe enough to recover too.
