How does it go from this… to their very first week of school? 🥹🎒

Four years ago, little Ava was right here on our screen at PAMS for her gender scan - a tiny face, tiny hands and feet, and a whole lifetime of firsts still waiting ahead of her.

Fast forward to September 2026, and she’s just started her very first week at school. 🥹

To all the parents watching their little ones walk through the school gates this September… do you remember the first time you saw them wriggling around on that ultrasound screen?

One minute you’re counting down the weeks until you meet them, and somehow, before you know it, you’re buying school shoes and waving them off at the classroom door.

Where does the time go? 💕
If we were lucky enough to be a tiny part of your pregnancy journey, we’d absolutely love to know -how old is your PAMS baby now? 👶✨

Heavy periods. Painful periods. Irregular periods. Or periods that have suddenly changed. Sometimes, a pelvic ultrasound can help us investigate what might be going on. 🔎

During a gynaecological ultrasound, we can look at areas including the uterus, lining of the womb and ovaries and identify certain findings that may help explain your symptoms.

For example, an ultrasound may identify:
-Fibroids
-Ovarian cysts
-Certain features associated with PCOS
-Changes to the lining of the womb
-Other structural abnormalities within the pelvis

But an ultrasound doesn’t always provide the whole answer and it cannot diagnose every condition that can cause period problems.
Think of it as one piece of the puzzle. 🧩

If your periods have changed, are affecting your everyday life or something simply doesn’t feel right for you, it’s worth speaking to a healthcare professional.

And please don’t feel like you just have to “put up with” painful or difficult periods.

During a growth scan, we take a number of measurements including baby’s head, abdomen and femur which are used to calculate an estimated fetal weight.

We can then look at where baby is sitting on a growth chart and their percentile, helping us build a picture of how they’re growing.
But the important word here is estimated.

Ultrasound is an incredibly useful tool, but it cannot predict your baby’s exact birth weight. Measurements have an expected margin of error, particularly later in pregnancy, and your baby still has growing to do!

So if you’ve been told you’re expecting a particularly big (or little!) baby, try not to get too fixated on one number.
We’re looking at the bigger picture - measurements, growth pattern and how baby is progressing.

Sometimes, reassurance is exactly what you need.

Whether it’s fitting you in at short notice, taking extra time to explain what we’re seeing on screen, or simply helping you feel a little calmer when anxiety takes over — we want every appointment at PAMS to feel personal, supportive and unhurried.

These two lovely reviews mean so much to Pam, Lois and the whole team. 🥹

Pregnancy can come with so many moments of worry and uncertainty, and you should never feel silly for wanting reassurance.

Thank you to everyone who trusts us to be part of such an important time in your lives. 🫶

The wait between a positive pregnancy test and your first NHS scan can feel SO long.
Especially when you’re analysing every symptom, every twinge and every trip to the bathroom.
An early pregnancy scan can offer reassurance during those first few weeks, helping to assess the pregnancy and giving you an opportunity to ask questions in a calm, supportive environment.
For some parents, it’s simply about having that little bit of reassurance while they wait.
And we completely understand why. 🤍 Book by calling or texting 0750 315 2530

Things we wish every woman knew before a pelvic ultrasound...

You don’t need to feel embarrassed.
You don’t need to apologise for your body.
You don’t need to have all the answers about your symptoms.
You don’t need to worry about whether you’ve shaved, what underwear you’re wearing or what your body looks like.
And you absolutely don’t need to feel silly for asking questions.

Whether you’re coming to PAMS because of pelvic pain, unusual bleeding, concerns about your cycle, fertility worries or simply because something doesn’t feel quite right, you’ll be met with kindness, professionalism and absolutely no judgement.
For us, it may be something we do every day — but we know that for you, it might feel vulnerable, worrying or completely unfamiliar.

We’ll explain what’s happening, give you time to ask questions and make sure you feel as comfortable as possible throughout your appointment.
Your concerns deserve to be heard.

Things you’ll probably do during pregnancy that nobody warns you about 😂🤍
Google whether every single food is safe to eat.
Wake up in the morning and immediately check whether your bump looks bigger.
Spend an unreasonable amount of time discussing baby names… only to veto every suggestion.
Say “I swear I just felt something” approximately 47 times before you’re actually sure it was baby.
Buy something tiny, hold it up and wonder how an actual HUMAN is going to fit inside it. 🥹
Calculate how many weeks pregnant you’ll be at every upcoming event.
Look at your scan photos approximately 600 times.
And somehow find yourself standing in the baby aisle of a shop when you only went in for toothpaste. 😂

Pregnancy is such a funny mixture of excitement, nerves, waiting, wondering and imagining the little person you’re yet to meet.
What’s something you did during pregnancy that nobody warned you about? 👶🏼🤍
