🌞 With temperatures set to soar again this week, we thought it was the perfect time to reshare our top tips for staying safe in the heat. 🌡️
Hot weather can be especially challenging for older adults and those with underlying health conditions, so it's important to take a few simple precautions to stay cool and well.
Take a look through our tips on beating the heat, and don't forget to check in on family, friends and neighbours who may need a little extra support during the warmer weather. 💜
Stay safe, stay hydrated, and look after one another! 💧☀️

As temperatures rise, we would like to thank our amazing care team for the extra support they provide to our elderly clients during hot weather.
Below we have shared some tips to help keep eveyone safe and cool:

• Encourage regular drinks throughout the day to prevent dehydration
• Keep curtains and blinds closed during the hottest parts of the day
• Open windows in the early morning and evening when temperatures are cooler
• Suggest wearing light, loose-fitting clothing
• Offer cold meals, snacks, and fruits with a high water content
• Use cool damp flannels on the face, neck, and wrists
• Avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak heat (11am–3pm)
• Check that fans are working safely and effectively
• Monitor for signs of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, confusion, headaches, and weakness
• Carry out regular wellbeing checks and report any concerns promptly

A little extra care can make a big difference during periods of extreme heat. Stay safe, stay hydrated, and look out for one another and yourselves.
