A dispensing optician is a qualified eye-care professional who specialises in helping you choose and fit the right glasses for your prescription.

They take the prescription from your eye test and advise on the best lenses, frames and coatings for your vision, lifestyle and needs. They also take precise measurements, make sure your glasses fit correctly, and can adjust or repair them.

Unlike an optometrist, a dispensing optician doesn’t normally carry out the eye examination itself — their expertise is in turning your prescription into eyewear that gives you the best possible vision, comfort and fit.

Charlotte starts her ABDO dispensing optician course next week, three years of study with a qualification at the end of it.

It means more dispensing, more repairs and more adjustments to your glasses when you come in to see us. Charlotte will be sharing updates as she goes.
