Abbey Essentials has been quieter for a while and that was deliberate.

Rather than expanding quickly, we chose to pause visible growth and strengthen the foundations of the business. That meant improving sourcing integrity, reinforcing traceability, tightening batch checks, and building more resilience into our supply chain.

The essential oil market has faced real pressures in recent years. Global disruption, freight instability, environmental strain on certain botanicals, and shifting supplier practices have all made consistency harder to maintain. We decided to respond with discipline rather than speed.

Behind the scenes we:

• Rebuilt parts of our sourcing network
• Strengthened batch verification
• Improved documentation and traceability
• Refined storage and handling processes
• Upgraded packing and quality control procedures

We also addressed a growing issue in the wider market: confusion between essential oils and fragrance oils. Synthetic fragrance blends are sometimes misrepresented as essential oils, which damages trust and creates unrealistic scent expectations. Both types of oil have their place, but they are not interchangeable and should be labelled clearly.

Alongside operational improvements, a practical rebrand has been introduced with updated packaging and stronger quality control procedures.
