🪩DANCING QUEEN 👑

A lively morning on Treetops today. Barbara turned into Babs from Pan’s People as she took to the dance floor and showed us her moves. 😀

There was lots of singing too 🎤. I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles was accompanied by a visual display. 🫧

🥰 FRIENDSHIP AND MUSIC 🎵

Yesterday Diana, Judith and Joy were invited by Friend In Deed to attend an event called Musical Keys at the Jubilee Community Centre.

On arrival we were offered drinks before our ladies became fully engaged with the entertainment, by joining in with singing familiar songs and playing percussion instruments. 🪇

A delicious bowl of homemade soup and sandwiches were to follow.🥣 🥪

Thank you to everyone involved in treating members of the local community to a warm, welcoming and uplifting session. 😀

Pinch, punch, first of the month!

What a beautiful way to start September with the results of our sunflower completion revealed!🌻

Well done to everyone who sent photos of their sunflowers, you know who you are😉

We celebrated the day in style with the lovely Norma who sang some traditional songs for us🎶 What a gorgeous dress too!👗💛

The mood was cheerful 😀 and lots of happy faces this afternoon as we tasted the yummy sunflower cake baked in the morning with the residents😋

All in all an excellent start of the month!👏

Everyone at Brooklands are hoping you are all enjoying your long weekend.

True to British tradition it’s a bit of a wet one ☔️ but on this occasion I’m sure most people really don’t mind. 😉

Activities have now come to a close, but as you can see there is plenty for our residents to look forward to next week. 😌

What a superb afternoon learning about the Onam celebration, the Kerala Harvest Festival in South of India🇮🇳

It started in the morning by making a traditional Pookalam, or floral design, with fresh petals and leaves from roses and sunflowers 🌻 🌹🍃

Thank you so much Akshay (and your wife Nirjona), Jaison, Ashly, Akhitha, Alen and Kamal for treating us to the process and the art of eating with your hand some traditional food on a banana leaf🍌

It was beautiful to watch you all delicately put together all the individual portions🍛

Thank you to all the families and friends who joined us; your presence alongside your loved one makes the whole difference 🙏☺️

🇿🇦SOUTH AFRICAN LANGUAGE CAFE🇿🇦

Thank you Timar (and family!) for a superb language cafe this afternoon 👏

We learnt a lot about the Kruger National Park and enjoyed interacting with the animals!🦒🐊🐘

The food was equally beautiful and you treated us to a fascinating array of sweets and savoury!😋
The Amarula and Redbush tea went down well too!

We love our language cafes as we gather around good food, share stories and learn a bit more about our wonderful staff’s cultural background🙂

This afternoon we welcomed Nick and Jane, Avril’s friends, who sang with us some worship songs🛐

We gathered in the lounge singing together some chosen songs and felt relaxed and energised after!😊

What a gorgeous morning spent in the company of Michelle and her Cuddly Cavies 🐹

Lots of cuddles, petting and feeding these adorable Guinea pigs❤️

It is safe to say we are having our dose of pet therapy so far this week!🐴🐹

One of the highlights has to be Joan’s reaction when Michelle stepped into her room, as she had never seen a Guinea pig before!🥰

Thank you Michelle for all the smiles your visits continuously bring to the residents😊
