When we get triggered and our nervous systems get activated it’s not always easy to stay cool, calm and collected is it? 🙃
It’s easy to want to fight, flight or freeze!
None are wrong by the way. They are ways which we have learned to survive and to protect ourselves from not wanting to revisit an experience or feel the accumulation of feelings and sensations that have arisen in that very moment.
Triggers gift you the opportunity to free yourself from where you are still limiting how and where you show up in your life. Where parts of you still feel fearful, vulnerable, unloved and unsafe.
They show you where your body is still holding onto old information, memories and emotions.
They show you where the parts within you need to be heard, seen, unburdened and integrated. Where we are stuck in time.
They show you where you are not comfortable with being able to fully feel.
They show you where you are rejecting parts of yourself that perhaps you don't like.
They show you where you are not feeling in control or feel that you 'have to'.
As uncomfortable as it is, it really is an opportunity to make peace within yourself and your body.
What if what triggers you is an opportunity for you to get to know yourself, love yourself and integrate even more of yourself way more deeply than ever before ❤️
and what if by doing that - you never have to abandon any part of you or give your power away to anything external to you ever again 🥰
A great question you can ask yourself for self exploration is
‘What am I still trying to protect myself from?’
