MHA Cromwell House Cromwell House is a purpose built, fresh, modern, care home offering residential and respite care for 38 residents. All bedrooms have en suite facilities.

Residents are welcome to bring their own furniture to personalise their rooms if they wish. Since 1969, Cromwell House has cared for older people in central Norwich. Our attractive home has 38 en suite bedrooms, landscaped gardens, and a “warm, happy and supportive” atmosphere, as described by the care regulator. Our Activities Co-ordinator organises a range of events around residents’ hobbies and interests, including outings using our minibus. Meanwhile, our Chaplain offers spiritual support however people might require it. We are part of MHA, the national older people’s charity. A Very Special Celebration

On Friday, we celebrated our lovely Pam as she reached the incredible age of 100!

Pam has had a wonderful week surrounded by love, with lots of beautiful cards, visitors, cake and, of course, some fabulous big helium balloons.

It’s been lovely to see her enjoying all the attention, with plenty of smiles, laughter and special moments shared with family, friends and everyone at Cromwell House.

And the pièce de résistance? A very special card from the King!

A Close-Fought Carpet Bowls Battle!

Laughter and fun filled the lounge this afternoon during our weekly Carpet Bowls tournament.

It was a close one, with the tape measure making an appearance before Rose emerged victorious, taking home the gold medal. Richard claimed silver and Margo took the bronze.

It was especially lovely to see so many residents getting involved, enjoying the friendly competition and cheering each other on.

It’s not about the winning, it’s about taking part and having fun together!

Smiles, tears, hugs and laughter as we said “see you later”, not goodbye, to Sharon.

Residents, staff and friends came together on Monday afternoon to celebrate Sharon and everything she has meant to Cromwell House.

The lounge was decorated, presents and cards given while music played in the background. There were heartfelt speeches, plenty of hugs, lots of laughter and, of course, cake!

It was an afternoon full of memories and emotions, with a few tears along the way, but most of all a wonderful reminder of the special friendships made here at Cromwell House.

Sharon, you will be missed more than words can say. We’re not saying goodbye — just see you later.

Friday Carpet Bowls Celebration

After a year of trying, Liz finally got her hands on the trophy 🏆Congratulations Liz!

After an amazing 21 years of service, our lovely Deputy Manager, Sharon, leaves us for pastures new on Monday, 7th September 2026.

We will be holding a farewell 'do' for Sharon on Monday, at 2.30 pm here at Cromwell House. If you would like to come along to say goodbye with us, then please do pop in at that time.

Music, laughter and good company!

We started the day with a service with Matthew, followed by an amazing hour having a go at Samba drumming. There was plenty of laughing and giggling, and by the end we think we’d finally found our rhythm!

After lunch, a quieter afternoon with a few card games, good chats, jigsaw puzzles and relaxing.

A Busy Few Days at Cromwell House!

Monday kicked off with another fantastic Word Game with Phil and Claire, and we’re getting ever closer to our 400-point target!

In the afternoon, Sarah brought the library along for everyone to enjoy.

A lovely service in the chapel led by one of our residents kicked off Tuesday morning.

Our little visitors were busy in the garden, having fun with balls and balloons, before we settled down to watch the first part of Murder Is Easy, based on the classic Agatha Christie story.

Wednesday brought our weekly Keep Fit session with Kat, with plenty of giggles as we exercised along to I’ve Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts! We then got creative with some flower pot painting, ready for planting our bulbs later on Friday.

Taking Part is What Counts at Cromwell House!

Friday afternoon brought our usual Carpet Bowls, and Kat got in on the action this week! There were plenty of smiles, chatting and laughter throughout, with everyone enjoying the friendly competition.

Michael emerged victorious after a close-fought battle, with Rose bringing home the silver medal and Maureen proudly winning her first bronze. Well done to everyone who took part!

Saturday morning brought our usual Scrabble session with Sarah, followed by a fascinating documentary about evolution. A lovely, relaxed way to spend the afternoon.
