👋 Are you or a loved one living with cancer? We are here to help.
Come along to our free Macmillan Cancer Support Drop-In Session at Pemberton Surgery! Whether you need practical advice, a chat about emotional support, or help navigating your care, our Macmillan Cancer Care Coordinator will be on hand to support you. No appointment is needed, just pop in.
🗓️ When: Wednesday 1st July, 22nd July, 5th August and 19th August
🕐 Time: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
📍 Where: Pemberton Surgery (Sherwood Drive, Pemberton, Wigan, WN5 9QX)
👥 Who: Anyone affected by cancer, including patients, family members, and carers.
What we can help with:
• Completing Holistic Needs Assessments to build a personalised care plan.
• Signposting to financial support, welfare benefits, and community resources.
• Helping with hospital transport and appointment scheduling.
• Offering a listening ear and emotional support in a safe space.

If you get an invite to do the friends and family test, please do it! We read all the comments – good, bad and indifferent – and always look at how we can improve our service if something didn’t go to plan.

NHS takes over parkrun 🏃
Local health services will be taking over parkrun next month, with free NHS health checks available to runners and volunteers at Pennington Flash (Saturday 4 July) and Haigh Woodland Park (Saturday 11 July).
If you aren’t already familiar, parkrun is a positive, welcoming, and inclusive community that has 5k runs every Saturday morning at 9am all across the world.
There’s no time limit and no one finishes last. Run, jog, or walk – it doesn’t matter. The focus is on fun and being active.
Next month’s takeover events have been organised by our local Primary Care Networks, with Health First on hand to deliver the health checks to those who want them.
If you’re new to parkrun, all you need to do is register for a barcode on the official website so you can take part. Participants are also asked to wear blue for the takeover events, in tribute to the NHS.

We wanted to give our patients advance notice that we will soon be moving from AskMyGP to Accurx for online consultation requests.

There is nothing you need to do at the moment, and AskMyGP will continue to be available until the new system goes live.

We will share further information, including the launch date and guidance on how to use the new system, nearer the time.
