🎥 NEW VIDEO LIVE: IRONMAN 70.3 Bolton Bike Course Preview 🚴‍♂️

This weekend I travelled up to Bolton with one of my clients and a member of the Recovery Lab TV community to ride and film the full IRONMAN 70.3 Bolton bike course.

Having raced IRONMAN UK multiple times — including the brutal 2023 edition where huge numbers of athletes DNF’d in horrific weather conditions — I know this area and these roads really well.

In this video I break down:
✅ The key climbs
✅ Fast sections & technical areas
✅ Pacing advice
✅ Fueling considerations
✅ Common mistakes athletes make
✅ What to expect on race day

The goal of this video is simple:
To help you arrive on race day feeling calmer, more prepared and more confident.

Bolton is a proper course. Respect it, prepare for it and it can be an incredible experience 👊

If you’re racing this year, drop a comment below with your goals for the event 🚴‍♂️🔥

The video is now live 🎥🤝

A few days ago I spent the day supporting Fergus Crawley during his DECA triathlon challenge — 10 Ironmans, in 10 days, across 10 cities — all to raise awareness for mental health and fund potentially life-saving support through Calm.

I joined him for the 3.8km swim at Cardiff International Pool before cycling 110km alongside him and the wider group at Llandow Circuit.

But honestly… what stayed with me most wasn’t the distances.

It was the conversations.
The people.
The atmosphere.
And the reminder of how many people are quietly carrying something heavy whilst still showing up every single day.

After losing my friend Zac recently, this one hit differently.

It reminded me why community matters. Why kindness matters. Why simply showing up for somebody can matter more than we realise.

Over the years I’ve seen endurance sport become therapy for so many people. Not because it magically fixes everything, but because it gives people purpose, structure, connection and belief when they need it most.

This video is about far more than swim, bike and run.

It’s about resilience.
It’s about people.
It’s about choosing to keep going.

If you watch it, thank you. And if it resonates with you, share it with somebody who might need it 🤝

My London Marathon 2026 race video is now live 🇬🇧🎥

Honestly… this one means more to me than just another race vlog.

The morning before the marathon I found out that my friend Zac had taken his own life. To then stand on the start line of the London Marathon less than a few hours later felt incredibly surreal. A huge mix of emotions, gratitude, sadness, perspective and honestly just trying to process everything.

I nearly didn’t post this video.

But I think it’s important to show that life doesn’t always arrive in neat little chapters. Sometimes the highest moments and the heaviest moments exist side by side.

London Marathon itself was unbelievable. The crowds, the atmosphere, the people, the support… it reminded me how powerful humans can be when we come together. And in many ways, I think I needed that energy more than I realised.

This was my first ever London Marathon and only my second standalone marathon. But this video became about much more than just running 26.2 miles.

It became about perspective.

Please check the video out if you’d like to follow the journey 👊

And honestly… check in on your people. Properly. You never truly know what somebody is carrying internally.

Rest easy Zac ❤️

Rewinding things back a little… 🇬🇧

This was the day before the London Marathon (25th April) — and looking back now, it’s mad how calm everything felt compared to what was about to come.

I’ve just uploaded the video from that day — heading to race registration, walking through the expo, and finding the bag drop at St James’ Park.

At the time it was a mix of excitement, nerves and just trying to take it all in… knowing I was about to run my first ever London Marathon.

It’s funny watching it back now after race day. You realise how much changes in just 24 hours.

If you’re ever planning on running London, or just want to see what the day before is actually like, this will give you a proper feel for it.

And if you’ve done London before — how did you feel the day before your race? Calm? Nervous? Bit of both? 👇

Video is live now on Recovery Lab TV 🎥

Massive congratulations to on completing the Newcastle Marathon — her first ever marathon 👏🏼

This one wasn’t just about race day… it was about everything that came with it.

The early mornings.
The long runs.
The learning.
The setbacks.

From building consistency, improving her pacing, dialling in her fuelling, navigating injuries, shift work, moving house, and even dealing with illness in race week… this was far from a smooth, “perfect” build.

But that’s exactly what makes this even more impressive.

Because despite all of that - she showed up, trusted the process, and got it done!! 👏🏼

That’s what a marathon is really about…

Not perfection.
Not ideal conditions.
But resilience, adaptability and belief.

To go from where you were, to running your first marathon with confidence, strength and composure… That’s something to be seriously proud of!

This is just the start 👊🏼

Welcome to the marathon club, Melissa 🏅

Huge congratulations to on completing the Ruthin Sprint Triathlon - his very first triathlon! 🏁

From day one this has been about building confidence across all three disciplines, learning how to manage race day, and most importantly just getting to that start line ready. And that’s exactly what he did.

What people don’t always see is everything that goes into a moment like this:

Early mornings.
Learning to swim efficiently.
Getting comfortable on the bike.
Figuring out how to run off tired legs.
And showing up consistently, even when it’s tough.

Today it all came together 👊🏼

This isn’t just about finishing a race - it’s about stepping into something new, pushing outside of comfort zones, and proving to yourself that you’re capable of more.

Proud is an understatement. This is just the start 🚀✨

Southampton Marathon 🏁

Another weekend, another marathon… but this one hits differently.

Over the past 6 weeks, hasn’t just “trained”… he’s put together one of the most demanding blocks you’ll see from any everyday athlete:

➡️ Multiple back-to-back race weekends
➡️ Half marathons stacked into full marathons
➡️ Training layered around real life, work, and fatigue
➡️ Showing up even when energy, legs, and motivation weren’t perfect

And today, he adds Southampton Marathon finisher to that list 🎉

This isn’t about one race result - it’s about the consistency behind it.

When you look at the bigger picture, what Matthew has built is something far more valuable than a single performance:
✔️ Resilience
✔️ Durability
✔️ The ability to keep moving forward when it’s tough

There were days in this block where sessions weren’t perfect, where fatigue was high, where it would’ve been easy to step back… but he kept turning up.

That’s what this represents.

Not perfection. Not hero sessions.

Just relentless, honest work — stacked week after week.

Now we shift the focus, absorb the work, and build forward from here… because this is only part of the journey 👊🏼

Massive respect mate - proud of you!! 👏🏼

This one means a lot.

The new North Star video is now live for all Recovery Lab TV members.

It goes public at 6:30pm 🇬🇧 tonight.

This isn’t a quick tip.
It’s not a hype reel.
It’s not surface-level motivation.

It’s 45 minutes of clarity.

Inside this video I break down:

• Why most endurance athletes stay stuck
• The real reason consistency beats intensity
• The training stress / recovery balance most people misunderstand
• How to build something sustainable instead of constantly rebuilding
• What “alignment” actually means in your training and life

This is the foundation piece.
The “Start Here” anchor.

If you’ve ever felt:
– Frustrated by injury
– Inconsistent with training
– Burnt out
– Pulled in too many directions
– Or unsure what you’re actually building…

This will help you recalibrate.

The benefit of watching isn’t just better sessions.

It’s:
• Better long-term progression
• Smarter load management
• Fewer setbacks
• Clearer decision making
• And a deeper understanding of why you train the way you train

Members get early access because this is the kind of content that builds the culture properly.

If you’re part of Recovery Lab - this is your blueprint.

If you’re not yet - it drops for everyone at 6:30pm tonight.

This isn’t about doing more.

It’s about building something that lasts.

See you at 18:30 🇬🇧
