Worried about getting up off the floor safely? Here's a simple trick that works.
I had a client who was on the waiting list for a double knee amputation. She was in real pain and falling regularly, and she was determined that if it happened again, she'd know exactly how to get herself back up. That's exactly what we practice in this session, a safe, chair assisted way to get down to the floor and back up again, so you're never stuck and never panicking if it happens to you.
The ability to get up off the floor unaided is actually one of the strongest predictors of independence as we age, which is why we build it into every strength and balance class.
If getting up off the floor is something you worry about, this is exactly the kind of practical skill we build in my strength and balance classes. Book your free taster session today and let's get you moving with confidence.

This easy stretch uses just a chair to improve your flexibility. Lean forward, grip the back, and feel the difference. Perfect for anyone looking to loosen up.

Before your feet hit the floor tomorrow morning — do this.
The first few minutes after waking are when falls happen most. Stiff joints, low blood pressure, a body that hasn't moved in 8 hours.
This 5-minute routine changes that.
🛏️ Ankle circles — 10 each direction, both feet. Wakes up the joints before you stand.
🛏️ Knee lifts — lying on your back, pull each knee gently to your chest. Loosens the hips and lower back.
🛏️ Sit on the edge of the bed — don't stand yet. Let your blood pressure adjust for 30 seconds.
🛏️ Neck rolls — slow and gentle, side to side. Wakes up your vestibular system.
🛏️ Sit to stand — using the technique in my last video, rise slowly and controlled. That's your first balance rep of the day.
Done. Five minutes. Every morning.
The goal isn't a workout. It's telling your body — I'm awake, I'm in control, I'm ready.
Falls don't just happen outside. They happen in bedrooms, in bathrooms, in the first 10 minutes of the day.
This routine is exactly the kind of thing we do in my live online Strength & Balance classes — twice a week, 9:30am, from your own home.
