Still waiting for that shoulder, knee or heel pain to magically disappear? 👀

Come and spend a session with Liam as he takes you through a cortisone injection appointment from start to finish.

This isn’t a quick jab and out the door.

We assess first.

✔️ Is it the right diagnosis?
✔️ Is a cortisone injection appropriate?
✔️ Have conservative options been explored?
✔️ What are the risks, benefits and alternatives?

For the right patient, a cortisone injection can help reduce inflammation, settle stubborn flare-ups and create an opportunity to progress rehab properly.

And that’s the important bit…

An injection isn’t the treatment. It’s a tool to help the treatment work.

Liam has delivered hundreds of injections throughout his NHS career and we’re delighted to now offer this service privately at RPC.

Thinking about an injection but not sure if it’s right for you?

Come and see what the process actually looks like.

Meet our founder, Ally 🙆‍♀️

From the first official RPC picture to most recent mug shot!

I just wanted to do a little reflection on where it started to where we are now! I set up Ropergate Physio in a small room in a shared building in Pontefract hidden away so that if it failed no one would know! Somehow a handful of clients found me and supported the start of this journey!

I had to balance locum work in the NHS with setting up a business but soon enough the business grew to the point I could move across completely to just working on and in the clinic!

Fast forward just over 3 years and I am lucky enough to have expanded the clinic to its own premises, containing to give excellent quality care across lots of different healthcare professions so that people can get nearly all of their healthcare needs under one roof!

We have grown a fantastic team of incredibly passionate clinicians and I couldn’t do this without all of them and all of you who have trusted us with your physio and foot needs over these 3 years!

It’s been a real rollercoaster and as much as I complain (hourly) I wouldn’t have it any other way! Here’s to the next 3 years - let’s see where this journey takes us!

Comment below with how our team has helped you and if you remember our small OG windowless room 💚

Here’s a great hip mobility & strengthening exercise because one is useless without the other!

Playing around with stuff in the gym to improve my symmetry in my hips as I’ve definitely got a lateral weakness in that right side from a string of riding accidents! Past coming back to bite! Even though I don’t currently have injuries or pain I do stuff like this to prevent injury and keep my training on track!

Try this for buttery hips!

Stop fearing overuse injuries. Start fearing underuse.

Somewhere along the way, people became terrified of loading their bodies.

“Don’t run too much.”
“Don’t lift too heavy.”
“Be careful with your knees.”

Meanwhile…

Weak muscles.
Weak tendons.
Weak bones.

That’s what really worries us.

Because tissues that never get challenged don’t get stronger.

They get less prepared for the demands of life, work, sport and training.

Your body is incredibly adaptable.

Give it the right amount of load and it will:
✔️ Build strength
✔️ Increase resilience
✔️ Improve capacity
✔️ Become harder to break

The problem isn’t usually that you’re doing too much.

The problem is often that your body isn’t prepared for what you’re asking it to do.

So don’t spend your life avoiding load.

Build tolerance to it.

Train.
Move.
Strengthen.

Your future self will thank you for it.

If you’re struggling with recurring injuries, let’s build a body that’s prepared for the demands you place on it.

What else can we say?! John (actually his real name 😂) has put the work in, he has never given up, he has had a long and painful journey but he has finally done what he set out to do 18 months ago and we are absolutely thrilled to have been a part of it! Let’s see what’s coming next 🏃

If your shoulders hurt every time you press overhead, more strength probably isn’t the answer.

Most lifters love training the big stuff.

Bench.
Press.
Pull-ups.
Rows.

But they completely ignore the things that allow those movements to happen properly.

Namely:
✔️ Shoulder stability
✔️ Thoracic mobility

Because it doesn’t matter how strong your shoulders are if they can’t control the load.

And it doesn’t matter how strong your upper body is if your thoracic spine is too stiff to get into good positions.

The result?

Shoulders taking more stress than they need to.
Compensations creeping in.
Niggles that keep returning.

Strong shoulders are great.

Strong, stable shoulders that can move well are even better.

If you lift regularly, shoulder stability work and thoracic mobility shouldn’t be optional extras.

They should be part of the programme.

Train the movement.
Not just the muscles.

Your hips might be the reason your knees, back or running keep giving you grief.

Strong hips do more than just look good.

They help:
✔️ Control knee position
✔️ Improve running efficiency
✔️ Reduce injury risk
✔️ Generate power for sport and training
✔️ Support your lower back

In this reel, Liam is demonstrating one of our favourite hip strength exercises to build stability and control where it matters.

The goal isn’t to feel the burn.

The goal is to build a body that can tolerate load, absorb force and keep performing when fatigue kicks in.

Whether you’re a runner, lifter, footballer or just trying to stay active, stronger hips are rarely a bad idea.

If you’re constantly battling knee pain, back pain or recurring injuries, it might be time to look higher up the chain.
