On Tuesday 1 September I went along to the second RootSource gathering at Dunsop Bridge, and I genuinely had such a lovely day.
Even the drive there felt part of the experience. Going from Garstang over the Trough of Bowland is absolutely beautiful, and Dunsop Bridge holds lots of memories for me as my very first beauty therapy job was there back in 1991. So it felt quite special going back all these years later, this time with Moodra.
I started the morning by delivering our Moodra Escape session, using a deep guided hypnotherapy recording written by Grahamm, our clinical hypnotherapist. I had some really lovely feedback afterwards. One lady became quite emotional and said she felt she'd been given permission to let go, be herself and enjoy the day. Others said they felt deeply relaxed, calm and able to completely switch off.
Then it was my turn to enjoy the day. I wandered around the woodland and lay in a hammock listening to the stream, the birds and the wind in the trees. It was so peaceful just doing nothing for a while.
Lunch was amazing β fresh bread, colourful salads, fruit and healthy drinks, all enjoyed outside. I really enjoyed meeting the other practitioners, hearing their stories and finding out about all the different practices they do.
In the afternoon we had Fire Reiki and meditation with drumming. I thought I was already relaxed until the drums started, and then realised I could actually let go even more!
Everyone puts their phones to one side for the day too, so thereβs no temptation to keep checking them. The beautiful setting is also kept private with no photographs, so you get to experience the surprise of it when you arrive, which I really liked.
As practitioners, we spend so much time giving to others. It was lovely to have a day to slow down, enjoy nature, experience other practices and be the ones receiving for a change.
