💊❌ Antibiotics don’t treat colds or flu! 🤧🌡️

Colds and flu are usually caused by viruses, which means they’re self-limiting — your body can fight them off with a bit of rest, fluids, and selfcare 🛌☕💧

Your local pharmacy can help with many , over the counter remedies to help fight off these viruses.

👉 Antibiotics only work on bacteria, not viruses — so taking them when they’re not needed won’t help you get better faster.

Let’s all do our part to handle antibiotics with care 💙

Keeping these life-saving medicines effective for when they’re truly needed!

Did you know Royal Preston Hospital has its very own on-site hotel - Bowland House? 🏥🧡

Being close to a loved one in hospital can make all the difference. Bowland House is a “home from home,” providing comfort, reassurance, and the chance to be there when it matters most.

Bowland House is dedicated to patients receiving treatment at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and families of loved ones in critical care, the neonatal unit, major trauma, neurosurgery, or patients in the last days of life.

Last year alone, it provided 3,558 overnight stays, helping hundreds of people stay close to the care they need.

A room costs around £30 per night, and keeping Bowland House running is only possible thanks to donations.
Many families who’ve stayed here choose to give back, ensuring the same support is available for others in these special circumstances.
You could even “sponsor a room” so another patient or family can be nearby when it matters most.

Every donation helps keep Bowland House open for the next family or patient in need 🥰

Brilliant news for children and families affected by allergies! 💙

From September, emergency EpiPens will be available in all schools and designated staff to have training in anaphylaxis management 🏫💉

This is a fantastic step forward in helping schools respond quickly to severe allergic reactions, providing an extra layer of safety and reassurance for pupils, parents, and staff. 🌟

While it's still essential for children with prescribed adrenaline auto-injectors to carry their own devices and have an up-to-date allergy action plan, having emergency EpiPens available in every school is a welcome development that could help save lives. ❤️

Please remember that our teams are here to help!🆘

We understand that people are perhaps feeling unwell and frustrated at times however this is absolutely no excuse to scream and shout at our team.

🚫This is not acceptable on any level and will not be tolerated and you will be asked to seek an alternative healthcare provider.🚫

If our service is not meeting your expectations within your requested timeframe then we apologise in advance and ask that you let us know in a civilised manner as abusing members of our Patient Services team is not acceptable.

Yes, our teams are paid to do their jobs but their job description does not include being verbally abused or intimidated by a minority of patients or carers.

To the majority of our lovely patients thank you as always for your kindness and respect you continue to show our teams 💓
