Fun fact: Your brain has about 86 billion nerve cells, all chatting away in a network that can stretch over 100,000 miles. That’s enough cable to wrap round the Earth nearly four times. Tiny sparks, big job.

Youve been told you should avoid exercise if you have arthritis...

Let’s clear that up: movement is one of the best tools we have. Exercise can help reduce pain, improve joint function, and build confidence with daily tasks. In fact, research consistently shows that regular physical activity is safe and beneficial for most people with arthritis — and many clinical guidelines recommend it as a first-line treatment.

The key is finding the right type and dose for you. That might be walking, strength work, cycling, or simple mobility exercises, started gradually and progressed over time. The goal isn’t to “push through” pain — it’s to use exercise as medicine in a way that supports your joints, not stresses them.

If you’re living with arthritis, you don’t need to stop moving. You need a plan that matches your starting point and builds from there. Small, consistent steps can make a big difference.

Mechanical neck pain is soreness, stiffness, or ache in the neck that often changes with how you move, sit, sleep, or load your body.

The good news? Neck pain does not always mean damage. In many cases, it’s more about how sensitive the area has become and how confident you feel moving it again. Research shows that neck pain is common, but it also often improves with the right exercise, gradual movement, and time.

At PhysioGo, we focus on helping you build movement confidence. That means starting with what you can do, then slowly increasing range, strength, and tolerance without overthinking every ache. Gentle movement, strengthening, and staying active can all help your neck feel more capable.

You do not need to “protect” your neck forever. In fact, learning to move with confidence is often a key part of recovery. Small, consistent steps can make a big difference.

Youve been told pain always means damage...

But pain is more like a warning signal than a direct damage report. It can be influenced by stress, sleep, previous experiences, and how sensitive your system is feeling that day.

In fact, research shows pain and tissue damage don’t always match up neatly. People can have pain with little structural change, and others can have changes on scans with no pain at all. That’s why the message matters:

Pain does not equal damage.

This doesn’t mean pain should be ignored — it means we need to look at the whole picture and focus on what helps you move better, feel stronger, and build confidence again.

That’s where exercise-based rehab can help. The right movement, paced well, can improve function and reduce sensitivity over time.

If pain has been making you hesitate, remember: your body is adaptable, and movement is often part of the solution.
