Yesterday we had the absolute privilege of welcoming Sarah from Maggie’s Stillbirth Legacy to speak with our MidSoc members. 💛

Sarah delivered an incredibly meaningful and sensitive session on:
How to use a cold cot
How to create memory boxes
How we, as future midwives, can compassionately support families who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of their baby

Her knowledge, honesty and lived experience brought so much depth to the session, and we are truly grateful for the time she gave us.

Maggie’s Stillbirth Legacy is a small but powerful charity created in memory of baby Maggie Pearl. They provide cuddle cots, cuddle blankets, memory boxes, angel gowns and bereavement resources to hospitals, hospices and families, not just locally, but across the UK and worldwide. They also refurbish bereavement rooms and support community groups for bereaved parents.

What makes their work even more extraordinary is that they receive no external funding. Every single item they donate, every cuddle cot, every memory box, every blanket, is funded entirely through community fundraising, auctions and donations.

Sarah gives her time completely free of charge, travelling to maternity units, A&E departments and other clinical areas to train staff and deliver equipment that gives families precious time with their baby.
We are so grateful for the compassion and strength Sarah brings to this work, and for the opportunity to learn from her today. 💛✨

Hello you lovely lot, so one of our 3rd year Preston students is taking on 70 Miles in June for Bliss, the UK's leading charity helping babies born premature or full-term, but sick.

1 in every 7 babies born in the UK will need specialist neonatal care, which means thousands of babies and their families seek information and support from Bliss every year.

Please can we all show some support and help her raise vital funds for such an amazing charity. Any penny counts or even just a like and a share would be amazing. Thank you so much ☺️

Hi everyone, we really need your support.
One of our lovely committee members has put together a “Guess How Many Sweets Are in the Jar” fundraiser for International Day of the Midwife, but unfortunately she’s struggled to sell even half of the numbers.
If you can spare just 50p, you’ll be helping to support Fund Future Midwives UK — a grassroots campaign fighting for fair funding, sustainable training, and secure employment pathways for student midwives across the UK. Founded by student midwives and supporters of maternity services, the campaign shines a light on the financial and structural barriers that threaten the future of our midwifery workforce.
And of course… you could also win the jar of sweets in the photo.
Any support, big or small, would mean so much.

✨ Yesterday we hosted our very first Bo***es and Brew social of the year! ✨

Like any first event, there were a few little bumps along the way, but the atmosphere was full of connection, conversation, and laughter. 💕 Everyone had the chance to socialise, share experiences, and spark some brilliant ideas for the future.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us — your presence made the day so special. Katie and Leanne loved facilitating across both the Preston and Burnley campuses, and we’re already buzzing with inspiration for what’s next.

We can’t wait to bring the community together again soon… stay tuned for upcoming events! 🌸☕👶

As part of our upcoming Winter Conference, we’re hosting a charity raffle to raise funds for Arthur’s Gift—a touching initiative in memory of baby Arthur, who sadly lost his life due to HELLP syndrome.

Through this fundraiser, we aim to support the Royal Preston Hospital Neonatal Unit, where Arthur sadly passed away, helping provide memory-making items like Polaroid cameras, clay footprint kits, and scrapbooks for families navigating the neonatal journey.
