New study just confirming what we already knew.
Cardio and resistance.
So what is cardio?
In simple terms its doing an activity that increases your heart rate for x amount of time. For the best aerobic benefit think low intensity long duration. An intensity where you can hold a conversation for a minimum of 20 mins.
What is resistance?
You may think the only way to get benefits is by lifting heavy weights and hitting personal bests every week in the squat and deadlift. But this is untrue. Resistance training is using your muscles against resistance, this can be through:
Bodyweight (push ups, air squats, lunges)
Barbells. (Bench press, bent over row, squats)
Resistance bands (lateral raises, bicep curls, tricep press)
Fixed resistance machines. (Leg press, lat pull down, shoulder press)
It doesnt matter how you get your resistance training, do what you enjoy and employ progressive overload. This is where you make it incrementally harder each week by either adding more weight, or more reps, or more sets or less recovery time.
The article recommends 90-120 mins of resistance training each week. Come to 2 bootcamps a week and you've hit that goal. Then do 3-4 cardio sessions additionally and you'll be smashing it. Cardio can be as simple as getting 5-10k steps per day at a brisk pace.
If you want to come to any sessions, drop me a message.
