π Amber Heat Alert β Stay Cool & Take Care π π
From all of us at MAK Community Care
The UK is currently under an amber hot weather alert, so itβs a great time to look after ourselves and each other βοΈ
Here are some simple and practical ways to stay safe and comfortable in the heat:
π§ Stay hydrated β drink plenty of water throughout the day (even if you donβt feel thirsty)
π Keep cool indoors β close curtains during the hottest part of the day and open windows in the evening
π Dress for the weather β light, loose-fitting clothes help your body stay cool
π³ Avoid the midday sun β try to stay in the shade between 11amβ3pm
π§ Cool down β a fan, a damp cloth, or a cool shower can make a big difference
π Letβs not forget our mental health
Hot weather can feel uncomfortable, disrupt sleep, and sometimes leave us feeling irritable or low. Thatβs completely normal. Take time for yourself:
β¨ Slow down and donβt push too hard
β¨ Stay connected β a quick chat with a friend or neighbour goes a long way
β¨ Enjoy the little things β a cool drink, fresh air in the evening, or a peaceful moment in the shade
π€ Look out for others
Check in with older relatives, neighbours, and anyone who may need extra support. A small act of kindness can make a big difference.
πΌ A little reminderβ¦
This warm weather wonβt last forever β so where you can, enjoy it safely, take it easy, and keep smiling!
Stay cool, stay safe, and take care π
