Ageing should never be something we apologise for.

Age Without Apology Month is a reminder that every stage of life has value, beauty and meaning. The years we live shape our stories, our confidence, our wisdom and the way we see the world.

For many older people, ageing can come with changes. Some are welcome, some are difficult, and some take time to adjust to. But growing older should never mean feeling invisible, less important, or less deserving of joy, independence and respect.

At Alexandras Community Care, we see every day that age is not something to hide from. It is something to honour.

This month, we are celebrating ageing with pride, dignity and without apology. 💙

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month ☀️

As we head into warmer, brighter days, it is a good time to gently remind ourselves how important it is to protect and check our skin.

Skin cancer can affect people of all skin tones, and those who spend a lot of time outdoors may be at increased risk without the right precautions. Simple steps can make a real difference, including wearing SPF, seeking shade during the hottest parts of the day, covering up with light clothing and a hat, and avoiding sunburn.

It is also important to keep an eye on any changes to your skin. If you notice a mole, mark, lump or sore that changes, bleeds, crusts, itches, or does not heal, please speak to your GP. It may be nothing serious, but it is always best to get it checked.

A few minutes of care today could help protect your health in the future. 💙

It was a really special day, and Mike had a great time catching up with everyone.

This week is Dementia Action Week, a time to raise awareness, improve understanding and show support for people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers.

Dementia affects everyone differently. For some people, it may mean changes with memory or communication. For others, it may affect confidence, daily routines or how they feel in familiar surroundings.

At Alexandras Community Care, we understand how important patience, familiarity and person-centred support can be. Small things such as a calm approach, a familiar face, gentle reassurance and taking time to understand someone’s routine can make a real difference.

This Dementia Action Week, we’re supporting greater awareness, kindness and understanding for everyone affected by dementia.

Find out more from Alzheimer’s Society:

This Dementia Action Week, 18 - 24 May 2026, we will continue to raise awareness of dementia, the UK's biggest killer, by sharing the stories behind the Forget Me Not.

💙 Nominations are now open for the Proud to Care Cornwall Awards 2026 💙

This is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the incredible care workers across Cornwall who go above and beyond every day.

The people who bring kindness, patience, humour and compassion into someone’s day. The colleagues who always step up. The carers who quietly make a real difference, often without expecting any recognition at all.

At Alexandras Community Care, we are proud to be sponsoring the awards this year.

If you know a care worker who deserves to be recognised, now is the time to nominate them.

It was lovely to mark such an incredible milestone and share a special moment with her. From all of us at Alexandras Community Care, we wish her a very happy birthday! 🎂✨

A huge thank you to the Penzance team for helping make the day feel so special.

The first challenge of the 2026 Alexandras Branch Off is here! 📸💙

For our Iconic Location Shot challenge, the staff were asked to gather as many of their team as possible and take a photo at an iconic local spot, or somewhere that means something special to them.

Here are the brilliant entries from across our branches and we think they’ve done a fantastic job!

Take a look through the photos and let us know which one is your favourite.

Happy International Nurses' Day💙

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible skill, dedication and impact of nurses across the UK and around the world.

At Alexandras Community Care, we are proud to work alongside nurses who bring clinical knowledge, compassion and reassurance to the people we support every day.

We’d also like to give a special shout out to our very own Louise Mills, who won Nurse of the Year/Outreach Nurse of the Year last year at the South West Care Awards.

Louise’s work is a wonderful example of the difference nurses make, not only through their expertise, but through the kindness, patience and commitment they show to others.

Thank you to Louise, and to nurses everywhere, for all that you do. 👏
