The clocks go back this weekend, which means it'll be noticeably darker earlier from next week onwards.

A few things worth thinking about as the evenings draw in:

🚗 Give your eyes extra time to adjust for night driving
💡 If glare from headlights is bothering you, it might be worth asking about an anti-glare coating or driving lenses
🌄 Darker mornings and evenings can affect mood and energy too, so a bit of extra daylight where you can get it goes a long way

Sunglasses aren't just a summer thing. UV rays don't disappear when the clouds roll in, they still reach your eyes on autumn days.

A good habit for the season: keep your sunnies with you and pop them on whenever you're out and about, cloudy day or not!

If half term is on your radar, it's a good window to get the family's eyes checked without disrupting the school week.

Kids don't always know how to describe blurry vision, they just get used to it. An eye exam is a simple way to assess their vision and make sure everyone's ready for the rest of term.

Do your eyes feel tired, gritty or uncomfortable lately? It might be dry eye, which happens when your eyes don't make enough tears or the tears you do have aren't good enough quality to keep things comfortable. As the weather cools, central heating and chilly wind can both make it worse.

A few quick tips:

👀 Blink more often, especially when concentrating
♨️ Angle heating vents away from your face
💧 Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
👁️ Keep some lubricating eye drops handy for on-the-go

If it's not easing up, pop in and see us. We're happy to help.

Party season is creeping up, and it might be time to think about the frames that'll be doing the rounds with your going-out looks.

Cat-eye glasses have a way of adding a bit of drama without trying too hard. That upswept shape draws the eye, sharpens your whole look and pairs just as well with a chic dress as it does with your favourite jeans.

When did you last get your eyes checked?

If you're not sure, that's probably your answer. Giving your eyes a bit of love goes beyond the odd screen break, it starts with knowing what's actually going on with them. An eye test is the best way to check in and catch changes early.

Pop into our practice and get yours booked in.

Staring at a screen most of the day? Your eyes are working overtime, and it might be showing up as tired, dry, or strained eyes by the evening.

Here's how to ease the load:

- Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds
- Screens can cut your blink rate by more than half, so make a conscious effort to blink often
- Set your monitor slightly below eye level, about an arm's length from your face
- Cut down glare from overhead lights wherever you can
- Turn on night mode once the evening rolls around

Small habits, happier eyes. Try one this week and see how you feel.
