Had a fantastic day at NFE 2026. It’s always a pleasure to meet the people and businesses that help shape the profession we’re proud to be part of.

From discussions on funeral planning with Golden Charter , to developments in funeral software from , and learning about Halliday’s Meadowside coffin range and its commitment to supporting British Farming, British wool and Harris Tweed, the day was full of insight and inspiration.

Many thanks to everyone involved. Already looking forward to the next one.

Shaw:

Peacefully, in his 97th year, at the Palliative Care Suite, Victoria Hospital, on Monday 18th May 2026, surrounded by the love, laughter and gentle chaos of his family — just the way Tom liked it.

Tom was the dearly loved husband and best friend of Annie, much loved dad of Margaret, Jan and his late son Billy, proud and devoted Granda and Great-Granda, cherished brother, father-in-law, uncle and loyal friend to many. A familiar face, a great storyteller, and never one to miss the chance for a wee blether or a laugh, Tom leaves behind countless happy memories and a family who adored him deeply. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

A service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at Isle of Bute Parish Church on Monday 25th May at 12 noon, interment thereafter at Barone Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to the local Alzheimer’s Support Group.
