🎢 The Church View Choir is officially underway! 🎢

What a fantastic first choir practice we had at Church View Care Home!

There were smiles, laughter, a few familiar tunes and plenty of enthusiastic singing as our residents came together for the very first rehearsal. Judging by the video, we think it's safe to say everyone had a wonderful time! πŸŽ€πŸ’™

Singing is so much more than learning the words to a song. It helps lift our mood, brings people together, encourages conversation and can even unlock precious memories through music. For many of our residents, it's also a chance to build confidence, make new friendships and simply enjoy being part of something special.

We're looking forward to taking our choir out into the local community in the future too, helping residents stay connected, meet new people and continue playing an active role in community life. Feeling part of the community is so important for wellbeing, whatever our age.

This is only the beginning, and we can't wait for the next rehearsal!

Who knows... we might even have a few performances lined up before Christmas! πŸŽ„πŸŽ΅

Move it... or lose it.

It's a phrase we hear a lot, but in later life, it couldn't be more important.

At Church View Care Home, one of the busiest sessions of the week is when our very own "Mr Motivator" arrives.

The lounge quickly fills with residents ready to get moving. Some are soon up on their feet, while others prefer to exercise from the comfort of their chair. And when the colourful pom-poms come out, everyone joins in with enthusiasm!

The smiles and laughter are wonderful to see, but there's a much bigger story behind them.

Regular exercise helps maintain mobility, improve balance and coordination, strengthen muscles and support independence. It also boosts confidence, encourages social interaction and has a positive impact on mental wellbeing.

The important thing isn't how much someone can doβ€”it's that everyone has the opportunity to take part in a way that suits their own abilities.

That's what person-centred care looks like.

At Church View, keeping active isn't about counting repetitions; it's about helping people continue doing the things they enjoy, building confidence and creating moments that bring people together.

Judging by the cheers when the session ends, it's safe to say everyone is already looking forward to the next visit!

Everyone has a life worth celebrating. πŸ’™

🌺🌴 Aloha from Church View Care Home! 🌴🌺

Our Hawaiian Day last weekend was such a fantastic success that our residents are still talking about it! 🌞🍍

The home was filled with colour, laughter and plenty of tropical fun as everyone embraced the theme. From grass skirts and flower leis to hoopla games and Hawaiian-inspired decorations, there were smiles everywhere you looked.

With the warm weather, we also took the opportunity to focus on staying hydrated, serving lots of refreshing drinks alongside delicious fresh fruit throughout the day. Keeping hydrated is so important, especially during the summer months, and what better way to do it than with a tropical twist! πŸ‰πŸπŸ₯

Most importantly, it was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together, have a laugh, make happy memories and enjoy each other's company. Seeing our residents smiling, chatting and joining in is what days like this are all about.

A huge thank you to our fantastic team for bringing the Hawaiian sunshine to Church View and making it such a memorable day. πŸŒΊπŸ’™

We're already looking forward to our next themed event... although we think the grass skirts might be making another appearance! πŸ˜„πŸŒ΄

Some days our Strong Life Care homes get to share news that makes us incredibly proud, and today is one of those days. πŸ’™

A massive congratulations to our amazing Margaret Lugg, who has passed her Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care with a Distinction! πŸŽ‰

Margaret has been part of the Church View Care Home family for over 20 years. She started her journey with us as a carer and, through her hard work, dedication and passion for providing exceptional care, has continued to develop her skills and career. In March this year, she was promoted to Team Leader – a role she has truly excelled in.

Margaret is one of those people who always puts others first. She works tirelessly to make sure our residents are happy, safe and receive the very best care, while also supporting and encouraging her colleagues every day. Her commitment never goes unnoticed, and this achievement is so well deserved.

As Home Manager, I couldn't be prouder of everything Margaret has achieved. She is a real asset to Church View, and I have no doubt she has a very bright future ahead of her. I think it's safe to say she's a future Home Manager in the making! 😊

Please join me in congratulating Margaret on this fantastic achievement – we're all so proud of you! πŸ’™πŸ‘

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚ Happy 91st Birthday, Ruby! πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰

Birthdays are always a special occasion at Church View Care Home, and we loved celebrating Ruby's 91st birthday with the people who mean the most to her.

Ruby was joined by her husband, Len, family, fellow residents and our wonderful team for a day filled with smiles, laughter and, of course, plenty of birthday cake! 🎈

Ruby and Len are both well known in the local community, and we're delighted they continue to share life's special moments together at Church View. Supporting couples to stay together whenever possible is something we're incredibly proud of, because we know how important love, companionship and familiar faces are to happiness and wellbeing. ❀️

Days like this remind us that a care home is so much more than a place to live. It's a place where friendships grow, families come together and life's precious milestones continue to be celebrated.

From everyone at Church View and Strong Life Care, we wish Ruby a very happy 91st birthday and hope she enjoyed every moment of her special day! πŸ’™

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§β€οΈ What a wonderful afternoon! β€οΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Residents from Church View Care Home had a fantastic day at the The Glebe Centre, where they were invited to enjoy a very special afternoon tea hosted by East Durham Veterans Trust – Veterans Supporting Veterans.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly meeting the incredible Chelsea Pensioners. Dressed in their famous scarlet uniforms, these distinguished British Army veterans have dedicated their lives to serving our country, and it was a real privilege for our residents to spend time chatting with them, sharing stories and enjoying their company.

The afternoon was filled with music, singing, laughter and plenty of conversation, with everyone coming together to celebrate friendship, community and the amazing contribution our veterans have made.

A huge thank you to everyone at East Durham Veterans for organising such a welcoming event. Their commitment to supporting veterans and bringing communities together is truly inspiring, and our residents thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

This visit couldn't have come at a better time, as Church View is about to begin its journey through the Veteran Friendly Framework. Building relationships with local veteran organisations and celebrating the stories of those who have served are at the heart of the programme, making this a wonderful first step on that journey.

A special event that has reminded us just how important community connections are and how much can be gained by simply spending time together, sharing memories and making new ones.

Thank you again to everyone who made the afternoon so special. We can't wait to visit again! πŸ’™

⭐️ 5 STARS FOR CHURCH VIEW! ⭐️

Good food is about so much more than what's on the plate. 🍽️❀️

In a care home, nutritious meals, plenty of hydration and the highest food hygiene standards all play a vital role in keeping residents healthy, happy and enjoying life to the fullest.

That's why we're incredibly proud to share that Church View Care Home has achieved the highest possible ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5) Food Hygiene Rating following its inspection on 12 June 2026! πŸŽ‰

The Food Standards Agency's Food Hygiene Rating Scheme helps people make informed choices about where they eat and where food is prepared. Care homes are inspected regularly by Environmental Health Officers, who assess everything from food handling and cleanliness to food safety management and hygiene standards.

Achieving a 5 – Very Good rating is a fantastic accomplishment and reflects the dedication, professionalism and hard work of our wonderful kitchen team and everyone who supports them.

Congratulations to the whole Church View team on this brilliant achievement. Your commitment to providing safe, nutritious meals and exceptional care makes a real difference every single day. πŸ’™

πŸ‘ Well done, everyone!
