The purpose built home, which first opened in 1990 and came under Springhill management ten years later in October 2000, has undergone extensive refu
rbishment and the addition of an extra wing. Birch Green is proud of its holistic, person centred approach to care and the people we support are encouraged to make the most of an extensive social programme drawn up by its permanent activities co-ordinators. Entertainment includes regular concerts, tea dances, quizzes, discussions and outings to local places of interest. A committed staff team - whose members are all encouraged to undergo extensive ongoing training - achieved the prestigious Investor in People GOLD award in November 2016. Residents can relax in their comfortable single rooms or in attractive communal lounges and a sunroom on the ground floor. For those who enjoy the fresh air, there are pleasant patio areas outside in the gardens. Situated just one mile from the centre of Skelmersdale and on a main bus route, it is convenient both for visitors and the nearby Concourse shopping centre, where able residents regularly enjoy escorted visits.
