Hello World Hypnobirthing

Hello World Hypnobirthing Hypnobirthing courses available to everyone whether you are a first time mum or fourth time.

Based in Skipton, North Yorkshire, I deliver courses across West and North Yorkshire and East Lancashire. Hi, I'm Charlotte and I'm passionate about improving birth experiences for everyone! I used hypnobirthing through two of my three labours and births and it had a dramatic impact on those births and how I felt about those experiences. Becoming a parent is the most transformational thing a perso

n can go through in their lifetime so I believe that getting it right is the most important thing you can do. I have experienced a traumatic birth experience where I felt pressured and uninformed and I trusted the clinical team to know what was best for me - I completely missed the point that actually I knew what was best for me and my baby. But its this experience and the subsequent amazing experiences that brought me to where I am today.

Trimester 1 realness

It's such a tough time in tri 1! You're only just getting used to the fact you're going to have a baby - generally you're not telling anyone yet and you have all this to contend with....

πŸ™ƒ Nausea
πŸ™ƒ Tiredness
πŸ™ƒ Hormonal changes

My top tips are to.....

πŸ’ž Rest when you can
πŸ’ž Stay hydrated - especially if you're being sick
πŸ’ž Prioritise yourself - this might mean saying no to things!

Look after yourselves tri 1 mums! πŸ«ΆπŸ’–

Where is your favourite place?

Mine is right here - by the sea with the sunset and with Wilson of course! πŸ–€

The sea for me is so calming. I can switch off the very busy part of my brain 🧠 and just be in the moment - nothing to plan, do or overthink. Just the sound of the waves, the warmth of the sun on my face and the salty smell of the seawater

Heaven 😌

Why do we sometimes call contractions, surges or waves? 🌊

Well, contractions are quite like waves in that they build in intensity to a peak, and then ebb away again. This repeats until your baby is born. 🀱

It can be helpful in labour to imagine the waves rolling in and out - maybe on your favourite beach. πŸ–οΈ

This helps to distract you from the intensity of the sensations and it helps calms your mind. 😌

My number one red flag in labour.,

Vaginal Examinations!

They only tell you one moment in time

They slow your labour right down

And give your cervix a panic attack

My advice? Have as few as possible and know that any examinations you do consent to have to be just that - consented to - not coerced, not pressured.

Here are the baby stats for our local hospital Airedale and to be honest I'm really concerned about these!

The labour ward is undergoing some necessary renovations at the moment and there doesn’t seem to be a timescale or any communication from the hospital (despite my best efforts) to enable me to help local women feel reassured about the impact these works may have on their labour and birth.

0 water births - absolutely shocking.

This may be due to the fact there is now one birth pool which is an inflatable one and takes an hour to set up.

0 home births - last month (May) the home births were up in number and I thought this may be an encouraging sign that the resources were being spread to help women have more choice. But this clearly hasnt been the case for June

I am normally a very positive person and I like to keep my corner of social media focussing on the good but this is really poor from our local hospital.

If you are pregnant and your baby is due this year- and Airedale is your hospital of choice, I would recommend researching some options.

Harrogate Hospital is not too far and I have had excellent feedback from clients about Burnley Birth Centre in terms of choice, support and communication.
