Parenting for confidence, not for comfort. 💛
When a child comes to me struggling, I always start in the same place - with their parents.
Not to find fault but to find context. Children’s behaviour almost always makes sense once we understand the world around them.
A few gentle patterns worth noticing:-
• Anxious parenting - when our own worries gets passed on, kids can learn the world is scary before they’ve had the chance to find out for themselves.
• Stepping in too soon - fixing every fallout or mistake feels loving, but it can quietly say “you can’t manage this without me.”
• Wanting to be liked - I’ve always found this one tricky. Boundaries aren’t always popular in the moment, but kids don’t need a parent who’s liked right now. They need one they can trust, consistently.
None of this is about getting it wrong. It’s about staying curious. That’s where the good work begins.
