Our residents spent the weekend out in the garden with Khadija, soaking up the sun and playing Hook a Duck! 🦆🌞✨

We’ve been so glad to see the return of the warm weather over the last few days. We love seeing residents and staff from all our communities socialising and sharing fun in such a sunny space! ☀️

Hopefully there’s plenty more great weather on the cards this week! 🙌🏻

This week was Dementia Action week! 🪻💙

Nicky and our residents have been making beautiful Forget-me-not pins together, and wearing them to spread awareness for those in our home and our community living with Dementia 🫶🏻

At Springfield Manor, we aim to inspire the lives of our resident’s living with dementia through meaningful activities, care, conversation and support! ✨

We are proud to be apart of Dementia Action week, and to do our part to continue to enrich the lives of those living with Dementia in our home every day! 🏠

Window Painting Series #5 🪟
Eileen’s Window!

One of our amazing Activity Coordinators, Nicky, has been doing ‘Window Painting’ one to ones with each of our residents in their bedrooms over the last few weeks! 🥹

We want to share some of these amazing artworks, and the amazing stories behind them, with all of you! 💭

This beautiful Ballerina belongs to Eileen. When she was younger, Eileen used to be a Ballet Dancer. The piece captures the beauty of dance, and Eileen’s love for ballet and music!

Thank you Nicky for creating something so beautiful and reminiscent to remind our residents of their amazing hobbies and achievements! ♥️

Happy World Bee Day! 🐝💛

We thought today would be the perfect day to show off our residents’ latest Art Club Project: Springfield Manor’s Happiness Hive! 🍯

Their Hive is made entirely of recycled materials, all transformed into honey combs and bees to create a beautiful display outside our activity room! ♻️

At the beginning of March, Geraldine and Megan were out on the balcony planting new fruit and veg seeds for the summer! 🪴🌞

They planted cucumbers and strawberries, and have spent the last month nurturing and growing them in the Activity Room windows! 🍓🥒

Their strawberry plant is growing slow and steady, and their cucumber plants are thriving - they have lots of flowers, so many tiny cucumbers! 🌼

One large cucumber was even ready to harvest and be taste tested! 👅

As well as this, they have had a beautiful strawberry bush donated by relatives to look after, and they decided to plant the seeds from one of their lunchtime tomatoes, resulting in 4 tomato plants to add to their garden! 🍅

It’s great to see our residents hobbies flourishing in the good weather - hopefully we have more fruits and vegetables ready to harvest soon! 🤞🏻

To end our Veteran Week, we welcomed residents, relatives, and our local community into our Cafe for a VE Day Bake Sale! 🇬🇧🍰

We welcomed so many amazing veteran charities and services in Stoke on Trent who offer support, guidance and opportunities for all of our local veterans - including Black Onyx Concepts, The Macari Centre and Tri Services and Veterans Support Centre. Registered charity 1159599 👏🏻

We welcomed Stoke on Trent’s Deputy Lord Mayor, Joan Bell, and her Consort, Dennis Bell, who spent the morning with our residents and veterans doing lots of story sharing and reminiscing of their service! 🪖🎖️

We welcomed the lovely children from St. John's CEA Primary School, who made amazing donations to our Cake Sale! 🧁

We want to thank everyone who came and spent their morning with us! Your support and kind donations helped us raise awareness for our Springfield Manor Veterans, and raised an amazing £162 for our residents Activity Fund! ✨

A special thank you to our amazing Activities Team who have worked so hard to create such an exciting a diverse week of entertainment for our residents, and to our wonderful Chef, Di, who spent all week baking and decorating so many amazing cakes! 🎂

We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting our first Veteran Week! We look forward to all of the exciting plans ahead of us as we continue our journey to become a Veteran Friendly Care Home, and to working with you all again in the future to support our local Veterans and community! ♥️🏡

Who are our Springfield Manor Veterans? 🌹🪖

Meet Selwyn, from our Foxfield Community! 🦊

Selwyn was called for National Service in 1955. He served in the 14th Field Regiment, beginning in Oswestry and then moving to Barnard Castle for a total of 2 years! 🏹🏰
