☀ Over the coming days, hot weather is forecast for our region ☀

⚠️ Because we've had a period of unseasonably cold weather, people may not be prepared for the change. Anyone can become unwell when the weather is hot, but some are at higher risk than others.

👍 Look out for older people, people with long-term health conditions and young
children who may find it more difficult to stay cool and hydrated in hot weather. Check in on older friends, family and neighbours, particularly those who live alone,
who may struggle to keep themselves cool and hydrated during the hot weather

Dementia Action Week, a national awareness week led by Alzheimer's Society is coming up soon (18-24 May).
We’re supporting the week by promoting a range of local events across Stroud, which may be of interest if you’ve been personally affected by dementia or would like to learn more.
Take a look at the One Gloucestershire flyer to see what’s on, where and when.

IMPORTANT: Please note that next week (week commencing 27th April) our dispensary will be open 10-12:30 and 1:30-4:30
The rest of the practice will be open and all appointments will continue as usual.

31/03/2026

We have just received confirmation that work will take place Wednesday and Thursday this week to replace some of the windows in our building including windows in three clinical rooms and the waiting room.
All appointments will go ahead as planned but there may be some mild disruption as clinicians are required to swap rooms to allow work to continue. Thank you for your understanding.

🚨Meningitis B Update 🚨
The UK Health Security Agency is aware that some of the students affected by the outbreak in Kent will soon be heading home for their easter break and may not have been vaccinated yet.

GP practices have therefore been asked to offer the meningitis B vaccine to anyone who has been offered preventative antibiotics due to possible exposure to Meningitis B.

For now this only includes:
💉 Students at the University of Kent who normally reside on the Canterbury Campus
💉 University of Canterbury Students who live in private residences or halls of residence and have been advised to take antibiotics due to close contact with a confirmed case
💉 Anyone who attended Club Chemistry in Canterbury between the 5th and 16th of March

We are only able to offer the Meningitis B vaccine to patients under the age of 2 or who meet the above criteria but we will continue to share updates here as and when we have them.

We do not expect the above update to apply to many (if any!) of our patients but please do share this with anyone you think it may be relevant to.

🚨 IMPORTANT: Meningitis B Update & Routine Vaccinations 🚨
With recent reports of invasive meningococcal disease (Meningitis) in the news, we want to ensure our our patients stay informed and protected.
🛡️ Frithwood Patients are Protected
We are proud to have a >90% vaccine uptake. This means the vast majority of our children and teenagers are fully protected.
📬 Check Your Post
If your child or teenager is due for any routine vaccinations, you will have received a letter from Public Health. If you have received a letter, please book your appointment as soon as possible. If you know your child is missing any other routine vaccinations now would be a good time to book an appointment for them to catch up.
💉 Information on Meningitis B (MenB)
Following the recent outbreak news, we have received many questions regarding MenB:
• The Routine Schedule: The MenB vaccine was introduced in September 2015 for infants.
• Catch-up Programmes: There is no national catch-up programme for older children. We will of course contact any affected patients if this changes.
• Private Options: If your child fell outside the age bracket, the vaccine can be sourced privately.
• Supply Warning: Please be aware that private stocks are depleting rapidly nationwide.
