THE CALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

Someone’s world has just changed forever.

Sometimes the phone rings in the middle of the night.

While the world sleeps, we get into the car knowing that behind one front door, someone’s world has just fallen apart.

We arrive as strangers.

And yet, for those first few moments, we are often the first face they see after losing the person they love.

There are no perfect words for that.

So we listen.
We stay gentle.
We take our time.
And we care.

Because the person we are there to bring into our care isn’t just a name or a call-out.

They are somebody’s everything.

When we leave, the world outside is still quiet. The lights are still on. Life carries on.

But behind that door, nothing will ever be the same.

And that is why this isn’t just a job.

It becomes part of who we are.

To be trusted in someone’s darkest moment is a privilege we will never take lightly.

We care for the person they loved, as though they were our own. 🖤
