In the health and care system in the North East and North Cumbria, we want to be the best at getting better – with continuous learning and improvement at the heart of everything we do, and in the way in which we work. Through the sharing of learning, ideas, and good practice, and by trying new things together, we can find solutions to the challenges we face, and support each other to make a differ

ence to the health of people living in our region. Building on past successes like the North East Transformation System and CLIC (Cumbria Learning and Improvement Collaborative), the Boost learning and improvement community brings together people with a passion for improvement, innovation and change in health and care. Boost ultimately serves as a hub for innovation, idea-sharing, networking, and supporting improvement efforts.

🚨 Applications are now open for Cohort 6 of the North Cumbria School of Generalism 2026–27!

Delivered by North Cumbria Integrated Care, this innovative year-long, part-time fellowship brings together up to 30 multi-professional healthcare colleagues from across North Cumbria to learn, collaborate and improve patient care together.

The programme supports both clinical and non-clinical staff to develop shared skills, leadership, NHS literacy, patient safety knowledge and quality improvement expertise in an increasingly complex healthcare environment.

📊 Impact from previous cohorts includes:
• 80% of alumni felt more motivated
• 77% reported improved ability to deliver quality improvement projects

The programme requires a commitment of 2–4 hours per week through a mix of self-directed and face-to-face learning.
