Why does choosing a local independent funeral director still matter?

For us, being local is about more than having a funeral home in Sunderland.

It means our name, our faces and our reputation are attached to the care we provide. Families know who they are speaking to, who is responsible, and who will be there if they need us.

Our name. Our faces. Our responsibility.

Choosing music, poems or readings for a funeral can sometimes feel difficult.

A favourite song can bring back a lifetime of memories. A poem may express something we struggle to put into words, while a personal reading or tribute can help tell the story of the person we are remembering.

We’ve created a new guide covering funeral music, poems and readings, including:

• choosing entrance, reflection and exit music
• music and visual tributes at Sunderland Crematorium
• the difference between a funeral poem, reading and eulogy
• ideas for making a funeral service feel more personal

If you are arranging a funeral and are unsure what to choose, there is no need to have everything decided straight away. We are always happy to help families talk through the options.
