Potty training can feel like a big step for children and families, but gentle guidance and reassurance can make a real difference.
ERIC, The Children’s Bowel & Bladder Charity, supports children, young people and families with bowel and bladder health. Their potty-training advice encourages families to build skills step by step, including preparing to use the potty, practising potty skills and moving away from nappies as confidence grows.
Every child is different, and some children may need extra time, routine, visual support, encouragement or specialist advice. If toilet training feels tricky, you are not alone — support is available, and small steps still count.
Pop along to our SEND Café if you would like a friendly space to chat, ask questions, share experiences or find out where to get further support.

We’ll be at Swaffham Community Centre for our next SEND Café and we’d love you to pop along.
It’s a relaxed space to have a cuppa, chat with others, ask questions and find out more about local SEND support. Whether you’ve been before or it’s your first time, you’re very welcome.
Fun fact: SEND support isn’t one-size-fits-all — it can look different for every child or young person, because everyone learns, communicates and experiences the world in their own way.

September is CVI Awareness Month 💙💛
Cerebral Visual Impairment, or CVI, is one of the most common causes of visual impairment in children, yet it is still not widely understood.
CVI is not about the eyes not working properly — it is about how the brain processes what the eyes see. This can make everyday environments, movement, clutter, faces, light, or busy spaces difficult to navigate.
This month is about raising awareness, increasing understanding, and helping more people recognise that vision can be affected in many different ways.
Every child with CVI deserves to be seen, supported, understood, and included
