Important update MenB vaccine programme for young people.

A one-off MenB vaccination programme is being introduced across the UK ahead of the 2026/27 academic year. This means it is only being offered for a limited time.

The programme is for school leavers and some young people under 25 who are starting university or residential further education for the first time. Who can get the vaccine, and how you get it, depends on whether you are in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

If you’re eligible, you will need two doses of the MenB vaccine for the best protection. Where possible, you should get both doses before starting university, college or residential further education.

Please see the links below to check eligibility criteria and book an
appointment.

Today, 29 June 2026, at 12:00 we formally stood down our critical incident. Thank you to all the staff, volunteers and partners who worked tirelessly through the incident response. Our Chief Paramedic, Duncan Robertson says more here https://www.scas.nhs.uk/incident-stand-down/

Services remain busy. Please choose wisely if you need NHS help. 999 should be kept for life-threatening emergencies only. https://111.nhs.uk/ offers help for less serious conditions.

With high temperatures on the horizon again, please plan ahead to stay safe in the heat. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/seasonal-health/heatwave-how-to-cope-in-hot-weather/

Heat exhaustion can make you feel unwell and experience dizziness, headaches, tiredness, excessive sweating and feeling or being sick.

It's not usually a medical emergency, as long as you can cool down within 30 minutes.

If someone has heat exhaustion:

βœ… Move them to a cool place
βœ… Remove all unnecessary clothing like a jacket or socks
βœ… Give them plenty of water – isotonic sports drinks or oral rehydration sachets can also help replace salt lost through sweating
βœ… Cool their skin – spray or sponge them with cool water and fan them
βœ… Stay with them until they're better
