To celebrate unpaid carers in West Berkshire, West Berkshire Council and Carers Partnership have teamed up to provide free fun events for unpaid carers. Please see the photo for details.

Hours: 29.5 hours
Pattern: Monday 08:30 - 17:00, Tuesday 08:30 - 17:00, Wednesday 08:30 - 17:00, Thursday 13:00 - 17:00.
Salary: £13.75 to £14.10 per hour, dependent on experience

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly Practice team of healthcare professionals. In this role, you will assist our clinicians in the care of our patients, including treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education. You will work under the direct supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. The post will also include some administrative duties.

The ideal candidate will need to be friendly, confident, methodical and efficient with excellent communication skills, a strong sense of empathy and resilience. The successful candidate must be able to work on their own initiative and have good time management skills.

Basic Healthcare Assistant training is essential, including venepuncture, taking observations and ECG taking.
Experience working in a GP Surgery would be beneficial. Training will be given to the successful candidate.

We are seeking an organised, professional and proactive Medical Secretary to join our friendly and welcoming team at Burdwood Surgery.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to our clinicians, ensuring patients receive an efficient and confidential service.

In this role, you will create and chase up referrals, deal with telephone enquiries and prepare & produce document templates, such as hospital referrals. You will also be responsible for the paperwork relating to shotgun licenses and our death protocol.

The ideal candidate will need to be confident, methodical and efficient with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate must be able to work on their own initiative and have good time management skills.

Do you suffer with 'white coat' syndrome?
Have you had a blood pressure checked in the last 5 years?
Do you know that high blood pressure rarely has any side effects and is know as the 'silent killer'?
Did you know that high blood pressure is one of the most preventable and treatable health conditions?

Following the success of the blood pressure clinics in 2022, we hare holding another. This will be led by our volunteer PPG member on a drop-in basis.

Please come along on Saturday 30th May between 8.30 and 12.00 for an informal blood pressure check.

Thrive are restarting the Life Changers Therapeutic Gardening programme and still have limited spaces.

Thrive, a UK leading gardening for health charity, runs Life Changers, a free, four-month gardening programme for those living with a life-changing illness, injury or health condition or have experienced a life changing event to enable them to improve their health and wellbeing.

Whether recovering from a stroke, cancer or surgery, or living with a long-term condition like diabetes, multiple sclerosis or Long Covid, people experiencing a life-changing health condition or event can experience the joy of gardening, build new friendships and increase social networks and build confidence to regain or maintain an active, healthy and independent life.
