Ankle rehab doesn’t need to be complicated!

Did you know previous ankle injury can lead to reduced dorsiflexion (ankle bend), which is in itself a risk factor in further ankle injury.

A study in 2025 looked at the importance of restoring ankle movement in athletes. It suggested that reduced ankle movement (particularly dorsiflexion) increased load to the knee and hip. It also suggested a higher associated risk with developing Achilles tendon injury, ankle sprain AND knee injury.

The paper also mentions athletes with greater ankle dorsiflexion were able to decelerate (stop) and perform high intensity cutting manoeuvres (change of direction) more efficiently!
