Pressure is only half of the story… 👣

When we analyse your gait, we don’t just look at how much pressure your feet experience, we also measure how long that pressure is applied. ⏰

This is called plantar pressure ‘impulse’ and it’s one of the most important metrics for understanding tissue overload. 🚩

A foot may not have the highest peak pressure, but if it loads a specific area for longer during every step; the cumulative stress on joints, tendons and soft tissues can be significantly greater. 🚨

It’s all about the mountains this week. After saying goodbye to .hunntt at 5am Monday morning for his new life in Melbourne, we put the walking boots in the car and headed to Torridon in Scotland. Beautiful part of the country . Lots of rolling countryside and great for somewhere to escape. 381 Footcare is as usual being looked after by all the amazing staff so you can still get your feet treated. Hopefully I won’t get any blisters whilst walking!!! The Torridon

A wall full of football boots. It’s great treating a group of footballers as they can have varying foot issues . This week it ranged from ingrowing toenails to Morton’s neuroma. Morton’s can be a tricky one as the studs on the boots can cause pressure on the area therefore exacerbating the issue. Boots may need adapting or the orthotic made need a met dome. It’s all about comfort so the player gets a good game and great result.

We are delighted to have Elaine Pettigrew join the team at 381 Footcare. Elaine will be with us once a week. After earning her credentials from Salford in 1989, Elaine gained valuable experience working within the NHS and also in private practice. With 37 years of expertise, she is a seasoned professional. Elaine is a member of the Royal College of Podiatrists and consistently attends meetings to maintain her CPD. She will be contributing as an associate podiatrist, offering routine podiatry services and specialized nail care. Welcome aboard, Elaine!
