For me, yoga became a path back to myself.
Not the version of me shaped by expectations, conditioning, past experiences or old storiesโ€”but the quieter, more authentic self underneath it all.
The memories donโ€™t disappear.
The challenges donโ€™t magically vanish.
But little by little, they stop being the ones leading your life.
What surprised me most wasnโ€™t touching my toes or mastering a posture.
It was noticing that I felt calmer.
More grounded.
More present.
At first, I couldnโ€™t explain why.
Then I realised that yoga wasnโ€™t changing who I wasโ€”it was helping me uncover who Iโ€™d always been.
That journey is still unfolding, and thatโ€™s the beauty of the practice.

โœจ Has yoga changed something in your life beyond the physical? Iโ€™d love to hear your experience.

**What is Yoga?**

This isnโ€™t a definition from a textbook.

Itโ€™s simply my experience.

Yoga isnโ€™t about becoming more flexible, achieving difficult postures, or looking a certain way.

Itโ€™s a practice of paying attention.

A practice of becoming more aware of our habits, reactions, fears, strengths, and the stories we tell ourselves.

For me, yoga is not about perfection.
Itโ€™s about honesty.

Some days the practice feels strong.
Some days it feels messy.
Both are part of the path.

The more I practice, the less interested I become in performing yoga and the more interested I become in living it.

Curious to hear your thoughts:
**What does yoga mean to you?**

Iโ€™m Arminda Ferreira.
Anarchist. Squatter. Punk. Animal lover.
Former drug addict and smoker.
A human being navigating life the best I can.

For many years I searched outside of myself for freedom, belonging, meaning, intensity, escape.
Sometimes through rebellion. Sometimes through destruction. Sometimes through survival.

Yoga did not arrive in my life as perfection.
It arrived as a mirror.

A practice that slowly taught me how to sit with discomfort, observe my patterns, breathe through chaos, and reconnect with something more sincere underneath all the noise.

I still carry past experiences, past traumas, old reactions and wounds.
Sometimes I still see life through those lenses.
I am not beyond being human.

But as much as I can, I try to live through the lens of yoga.
Through awareness. Through compassion. Through truth. Through presence.

For me yoga is not expensive clothes, impossible postures, or pretending to be healed.
Yoga is how you speak to people.
How you treat animals.
How you deal with suffering.
How you hold yourself when life becomes uncomfortable.
How you begin again and again.

โ€œYoga is not a work-out, it is a work-in. And this is the point of spiritual practice; to make us teachable; to open our hearts and focus our awareness so that we can know what we already know and be who we already are.โ€
