“It’s my therapy.”
I’ve heard this from a few clients recently when I tell them they don’t have to talk during their treatment.
And their response is often, “I know… I like to talk. It’s my therapy.”
And I get it.
For some people, their massage, reflexology, or hands-on therapy session becomes so much more than treating muscles, tension or physical discomfort.
It’s an hour in their week where they can breathe. Where they can switch off, talk, be quiet, or simply be themselves.
It can be a space where they feel safe and comfortable. A place where they feel heard without judgement, and where some of the things they’ve been carrying can be shared.
There is something powerful about human connection and therapeutic touch. Sometimes, finding the right therapist, feeling comfortable in the environment, and having someone simply listen can be incredibly meaningful.
So, when a client says, “This is my therapy. I like to talk,” we understand… because hands-on therapy can offer so much more than we sometimes realise.
