Tuesday

SEN session and the go-cart is coming along. We tested it out today to see how it ran down hill. A few adjustments to do tomorrow and a seat to build and then we are go go go

Mixed Primary group and there was a hive of activity. We had a creative and quirky chicken coop box made complete with a bird figure on top which had its winged attached via a mortice and tenon joint. Well done you three for the team effort. I love it! We had a cool speedboat made from a single piece of 4x2 hollowed out and it floats!! Success! The table come den modification is now 95% done and it just needs a bit of sanding down in some areas to get rid of Sharpe edges and splinters.

Well done everyone today!

The Orange ToolBox Philosophy

"The Orange ToolBox Philosophy has not been written in isolation. It has been shaped through over twenty years of experience within the construction industry, influenced by established educational thinkers such as Froebel and Montessori, and continually developed through practice.

The Orange ToolBox believes that every educational philosophy, theory and teaching should be continually questioned, challenged and tested against the needs of today's children. If experience shows there is a better way to help a child learn, there is a responsibility to evolve. The philosophy of The Orange ToolBox will therefore never stand still because children, society and education never stand still.

Every working day on a professional building site begins with people, not projects............"

๐Ÿ“š The Orange Library is Now Open! ๐Ÿ“š

We are delighted to announce that The Orange Library is now open at the bottom of our garden here at The Orange ToolBox for all children in our local community and anyone simply passing by to enjoy.

The Orange Library is a place where children can swap, share and discover. You're welcome to take or leave books, toys, games, stationery, clothing accessories, tools, musical instruments, craft items and much more.

There is no cost and no membership required. Simply pop by, have a browse and, if you find something you'd like, please take it. When you have the opportunity, we'd love for you to bring along something you no longer need to pass on to another child. Together we can keep this wonderful community resource growing.

This project has been a real team effort. The library itself was built by Uckfield College students, who laid the base and constructed the framework. Our fantastic Home Education members then completed the project by tiling the roof, cladding the sides and making the door. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved together.

We hope The Orange Library brings joy to local children and encourages a love of reading, creativity and sharing within our community.

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Best wishes,

Ben

Tuesday

The start of our summer holiday sessions begin and we are delighted to welcome back a lot of our existing members as well as a few new members today.

Private 1:1 and we made a brilliant start on a car ferry transporter today complete with a real working winch (medieval style) for the draw bridge and there is set to be another for a car that need rescuing from the shoreline. Love it!

Mixed Primary group and what a full yet buzzing session that was. I love the fact my name is constantly being said throughout keeping me on my toes. We had a cool bird house made out of a wooden box and various bits of wood lovingly cut out and fixed on. There was also another brilliant small birdhouse made in a duo team and for their first time here and on the tools, l what a brilliant job done. There is a fantastic car garage currently being made and also a speed boat. We have a cart underway and an adaption on a table made last term is being turned into a small room..watch this build! The water table got a play with and interest was taken in Yhe Orange Library as well. Absolutely love getting to show case the tools we have on offer here to the group and allowing them to use them with guidance and discussing the pros, cons and safety aspects. Well done all.

๐Ÿš€ A New Chapter for The Orange ToolBox! ๐ŸŠ

Today, we're incredibly proud to share another major milestone in our journey...

The Orange ToolBox is now officially a Limited Company! ๐ŸŽ‰

When we first started, we had one simple mission: to give children the opportunity to learn practical construction skills, build confidence and discover what they're capable of through hands-on experiences.

Since then, we've welcomed hundreds of children through our doors, become a multi-award-winning construction workshop, worked alongside schools and local authorities, supported children with a wide range of needs, and continued to grow thanks to the amazing support of our community.

Becoming a Limited Company is more than just a legal change. It's a commitment to our future. It provides a stronger foundation as we continue to grow, develop new opportunities, expand our reach and support even more children, families and schools.

While our business structure has changed, one thing never will...

โค๏ธ Our passion for inspiring young people. ๐Ÿ”จ Our commitment to practical, hands-on learning. ๐ŸŠ Our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to build confidence, skills and brighter futures.

This is just the beginning, and we're so excited for what the future holds.

Here's to the next chapter of The Orange ToolBox Ltd! ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

Today we can finally share some exciting news... ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿงก
BUILD Magazine has officially announced the winners of the Construction and Engineering Awards 2026, and we are incredibly proud to have been recognised with two regional awards.

๐Ÿฅ‡ Best Construction Skills Educator 2026 โ€“ South East England
This award means even more because it is the second consecutive year we have received this recognition.

๐Ÿฅ‡ Community Engagement Excellence Award 2026 โ€“ South East England

From the very beginning, our vision has been about so much more than teaching practical construction skills. It has always been about creating opportunities, building confidence, supporting children of all abilities, bringing our community together and making a real difference.

These awards belong to everyone who has been part of our journey. Thank you to every child who has attended a session, every parent and carer who has trusted us, every member of our amazing team and everyone who continues to support The Orange ToolBox.

We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and are more determined than ever to continue inspiring the next generation through practical learning and meaningful community engagement.

Here's to another incredible year! ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ”จ

Police meet and greet day.

Today at The Orange ToolBox we had the pleasure of welcoming PCSO Susan and PCSO Amy for a very special community meet and greet. ๐Ÿš“๐Ÿ’™

They arrived in a real police car and the children absolutely loved every minute. There were lots of brilliant questions asked and answered, the blue lights flashed, the sirens sounded, and there were smiles from start to finish.

This was a community event that I organised completely free of charge because I believe it's so important that children have positive experiences with the people who are here to help keep us safe.

Children can sometimes grow up hearing negative stories or develop fears about the police. Today's visit was all about breaking down those barriers, showing that the police are friendly, approachable and always there to help, just like all of our emergency services.

By the end of the session, I think PCSO Susan and PCSO Amy had made lots of new friends and inspired quite a few future police officers too. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿš”

A huge thank you to both of them for giving up their time to engage with the children, answer every question with patience and enthusiasm, and create such a memorable experience.
Community matters. Positive role models matter. Giving children opportunities like this matters. โค๏ธ๐Ÿงก
