We believe every achievement is worth celebrating.

Each and every milestone represents progress, determination, and personal growth. These moments help build confidence, independence, and open up new opportunities along the way.

It’s inspiring to see so many positive outcomes across our schools, and we’re proud to celebrate the achievements of the incredible young people we support. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for each and every one of them.

Every young person’s experience in residential care is unique.

This example highlights what life at a Cambian residential school or college may look like, but no two experiences are ever the same. We recognise that every young person brings their own strengths, interests, aspirations and support needs, which is why our approach is always personalised and centred around the individual.

From feeling at home and building meaningful relationships to growing in confidence, exploring new opportunities and looking ahead to the future, we support young people every step of the way. Working closely with families, carers and professionals, we create nurturing environments where young people can feel safe, valued and empowered to thrive.

Because every journey is different, and every achievement matters.

At Spring Hill, every young person’s journey is unique, which is why our approach is built around supporting individuals step by step.

STEP is designed to help young people build stability, develop confidence and move forward positively through three stages:

- Stabilisation
- Strengthening
- Transition

Through therapeutic support, personalised care and education, we help young people develop life skills, build emotional wellbeing and prepare for adulthood in a way that works for them.

Our Clinical Services teams work closely alongside education and care colleagues to create supportive environments where young people can thrive socially, emotionally and academically.

From building communication skills and encouraging independence to supporting future aspirations, STEP is about recognising potential, celebrating progress and ensuring every step forward matters.

At Cambian, we believe in creating opportunities that lead to real futures.

In this video, Wing College Principal Cass shares the story of a former student whose work experience placement with the Cambian Estates team helped him build valuable skills, confidence, and experience.

His enthusiasm, commitment and potential quickly stood out, and the team were keen to support his progression into employment by helping him take the next step into a permanent role.

Following a formal interview arranged by Wing College, he successfully secured a permanent position.

Today, Connor is not only a valued member of the grounds team but is also helping to mentor another Wing College student, Ahmet, who hopes to pursue a career in construction. By sharing his experience and supporting the development of teamwork and workplace skills, Connor is helping to create opportunities for others, just as opportunities were created for him.

This is what happens when education, opportunity and the right support come together helping young people achieve meaningful employment and build brighter futures.

At Cambian, many of our schools and colleges offer rewarding work experience opportunities that help students develop confidence, independence, and valuable employability skills for the future.

We’re incredibly proud of Cambian Lufton College student Taylor, who has been gaining practical experience through a creative work experience project with local care home, Compton View.

Working to a professional brief, Taylor created a dandelion painting inspired by the home’s memory garden symbol, developing confidence, creativity, and key workplace skills along the way.

A fantastic example of how work experience opportunities can help students build independence and prepare for future careers in the creative sector. Well done, Taylor!

Life Beyond the Classroom

At Cambian, our learning extends beyond the classroom, with residential schools and colleges providing opportunities that support personal growth, wellbeing and independence through engaging experiences tailored to the interests and needs of each young person.

The Forum School’s equine programme is a particular favourite, with students spending time with the school’s three horses, Erin, Dusty, and Tazi. Students can enjoy riding, grooming and caring for the horses, while learning practical skills such as feeding, tacking up and maintaining equipment. For some, simply spending time with the horses and enjoying their company is just as rewarding.

For young people in residential settings, opportunities like these form an important part of daily life, helping to build confidence, independence and wellbeing beyond the classroom.

One of our third-year residential students from Cambian Lufton College recently enjoyed a successful trip into Yeovil, developing valuable independent living skills along the way, from safely navigating pedestrian crossings to confidently ordering and paying for their own meal.

A real highlight of the trip was a positive visit to the barbers. Haircuts had previously been a challenge, but through patience, consistency, and the support of a trusted barber, the experience has become far more comfortable and manageable. Over time, this young man’s confidence has grown significantly, and he is now able to comfortably tolerate clippers, including around more sensitive areas such as behind the ears.

It’s often the smaller steps that lead to the biggest achievements, helping to build confidence, independence, resilience, and readiness for the future. Well done!

At Cambian, every young person’s journey matters.

We recently had the pleasure of speaking to brothers Leo, Archie and Jack who shared their experiences of joining Cambian Somerset School and how the support around them helped rebuild their confidence, trust and belief in themselves.

They reflect on the challenges they faced before joining the school, their first impressions, and how quickly they discovered a calm, supportive environment where they were understood as individuals. Through strong relationships, personalised support and a compassionate approach from staff, each of them has been able to grow, achieve and look towards the future with positivity.

We’re incredibly proud to have been part of their journey and grateful to Leo, Archie and Jack for sharing their story.

For many parents, the thought of their child moving away from home can feel overwhelming, especially when they rely on specialist support.

Joshua’s family once feared what the future might look like for him. At Cambian Lufton College , he is enjoying gardening, cooking, trips to the beach and time with friends, while growing in confidence and independence every day.

“Like many parents, I had never considered that Joshua would move away from home…”

This week, we've been sharing real stories from families whose lives have been changed through residential care and education.

This week, we’re sharing real stories from the young people, families and staff across our residential schools and colleges, stories that show what can happen when care and education is built around the individual, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Michelle Turner from Whinfell School shares the inspiring story of a student who found traditional academic learning challenging, but discovered a real talent and passion for photography.

By adapting the curriculum around his strengths, the team helped him thrive, achieving an incredible Grade 9 in GCSE Art, with moderators blown away by the quality of his portfolio. But the impact didn’t stop in the classroom. Through work experience with local businesses, he was able to use his skills in the real world, building confidence, independence and preparing for adulthood.

It’s a powerful example of what can happen when young people are given the right support, opportunities and belief in their potential.

Watch the full video to hear more of his journey.
