🎓 Starting School, College or University? A New Chapter Can Bring New Challenges

September is a time of change for many families. Children may be starting or returning to school, young people beginning college or university, and parents adjusting to new routines too.

While these changes can be exciting, they can also bring challenges such as:

💙 Anxiety or feeling overwhelmed
🤝 Loneliness and making new connections
💷 Financial pressures
🏠 Moving away from home
📚 Managing new routines and responsibilities
🌱 Building confidence and independence

This is where social prescribing can help.

Social prescribing looks beyond medical needs and connects people with practical, emotional and community support that can help them manage some of the challenges affecting their health and wellbeing.

Sometimes the support we need is not a prescription. It might be finding the right local group, getting help with financial worries, meeting new people or simply having someone help you work out where to start.

Here is to new beginnings and a positive start to the new academic year. 💚

From today, children and pregnant women can get their flu vaccinations ahead of winter.

Children aged 2 and 3 can get vaccinated at their GP surgery, while most school-aged children will be offered the vaccine at school.

Pregnant women can speak to their maternity team, GP practice or community pharmacy about getting vaccinated.

Following each consultation, you’ll receive a text message asking about your recent appointment. This survey is part of the Friends and Family Test and helps us understand how we’re doing.

If you’d like, you can also tell us why you gave your rating and let us know if there’s anything we could have done better. Your feedback is shared regularly with our staff, helping us recognise what’s working well and identify opportunities to improve the care and service we provide.
