Harpin's Funeral Service has been providing services within the local area for over 90 years. In 1930, Leonard and Vera Harpin purchased their first Rolls Royce. Through hard work, this soon increased to a fleet of two hearses and thirteen

limousines. The limousines were originally used for a variety of purposes, such as weddings and not kept just for funeral work. They also hired the fleet to Funeral Directors in the area who didn’t own their own vehicles. The teams at our funeral homes will provide advice at every stage of the funeral planning process. We have a large selection of memorial masonry for you to choose from. We are also able to arrange additional works such as inscriptions and renovations on existing memorials, as part of our service, we will assist you with the completion and submission of the appropriate documentation. Kay Applegarth

Passed away surrounded by loved ones on August 10th.

She was a beloved wife to John for 45 years, an amazing mum to their sons, Paul and Mark, and a much-loved Grandma to her two young grandchildren, Olive and Hughie.

Kay's passing is also mourned by her sister Susan, Brother-in-Law Dave, nephews Ben, David and James, and Daughter-in-Laws Jess and Becky. She was also a much-loved friend to Anna and many more.

As they come to terms with their loss, the family say Kay will be remembered dearly and missed deeply.

A service to celebrate her life is taking place on Thursday 3rd September 2026, 12.40pm at Wakefield Crematorium.

Donations can be made in her loving memory and will be given to a local hedgehog sanctuary.

We are deeply saddened to announce that Vicky passed away unexpectedly at home on 26th July, aged 43 years.

Treasured daughter of Gill and Malcolm, deeply loved Mum to Chloe, Brad, Maddison, Elijah, Betti and Azzaan, loving Grandma, much loved sister to Richard and the late Tracy, stepdaughter of Graham and Julie, sister-in-law to Beth, and Auntie to Summer, Finlay and Georgie.

Vicky’s funeral service will take place at St Helen’s Church, Sandal on Wednesday 9th September at 11.15 am.

Smart attire is not required; please come as you are with a touch of yellow in memory of Vicky.
