Sometimes, the most meaningful spaces are created with a single purpose in mind, only to become something far greater.

The Rainbow Suite at HMP Low Newton was originally created to provide comfort, dignity and peace for a patient receiving palliative care following a terminal diagnosis.

Inspired by the patient's love of rainbows and the colour pink, colleagues transformed the room into a bright, welcoming space. The patient named it The Rainbow Suite.

What followed is a powerful reminder of the impact of compassionate, person-centred care.

Through the dedication of our healthcare team, and in particular Andrea, who built a therapeutic relationship founded on empathy, trust and shared lived experiences, the patient became increasingly engaged in her treatment and care.

Today, her condition has improved so significantly that she is no longer receiving palliative care.

The Rainbow Suite has become more than just a room. It is a symbol of hope, recovery and the extraordinary difference that kindness, connection and personalised care can make, even in the most challenging circumstances.

The artwork pictured was created by the patient herself, a beautiful reflection of resilience, creativity and hope. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’—

Compassionate leadership. Expert collaboration. Better health outcomes.

What an incredible day at HMP Haverigg's Health Promotion Day!

Working alongside our HMPPS colleagues and a fantastic network of partner organisations, we brought health promotion, screening and wellbeing support directly to patients and staff in a truly collaborative event.

The impact speaks for itself:
โ€ข 49 Hepatitis C tests completed
โ€ข 22 Fibro scans delivered
โ€ข Hundreds of conversations promoting healthier lives through screening, prevention and personalised care.

A huge THANK YOU and congratulations to Sarah, Head of Healthcare at HMP Haverigg, whose visionary leadership made this event possible. Sarah's compassionate, skilled and health promoting approach continues to transform outcomes at Haverigg, bringing together partners across the system to improve care for everyone.

Special thanks also to Joanne, Clinical Lead, and every member of the Spectrum and HMPPS teams, as well as all of our external partners, whose passion and teamwork made the day such a success.

This is what compassionate, expert, system wide leadership looks like and it's making a real difference.
Well done, to team HMP Haverigg. You make us all proud.

๐Ÿ’™ Making a difference together ๐Ÿ’™

At Spectrum, we're proud to support the communities we serve.

Through our annual staff survey, we donate ยฃ10 for every completed survey. This year, thanks to the fantastic participation of our colleagues, we raised an incredible ยฃ5,331, with ยฃ1,777 donated to each of three charities chosen by our staff:

๐Ÿ’™ Andys Man Club Wakefield
๐Ÿ’™ Zoe's Place Baby Hospice Middlesbrough
๐Ÿ’™ East Cheshire Hospice

These organisations provide life-changing support for people and families in our communities, and we're honoured to play a small part in helping them continue their vital work.

A huge thank you to every member of staff who completed the survey and to the colleagues who nominated these incredible charities. Together, we've turned employee feedback into meaningful support for causes that matter most.

We're incredibly proud of our colleagues at HMP Haverigg, who came together to compete in the 5k Pretty Muddy challenge for Cancer Research UK Race for Life

The event showcased the exceptional teamwork, professionalism and community spirit that defines our staff.

The team climbed, crawled and slid along the inflatable course and in the process raised an amazing ยฃ1,200+ for this incredible cause, exceeding their target.

Well done to everyone involved, it looked like a great day and there's still time to donate here: https://ow.ly/mQbK50ZkBy2

We're thrilled to announce that Spectrum Community Health CIC has won the Regional Champion Award for North East and Yorkshire in the Digital Innovation category for our Virtual Wards in Secure Environments project at the NHS Excellence Awards.

Working in partnership with County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust and HMPPS, the project is transforming healthcare delivery within high-security prisons.

Through remote specialist reviews and innovative digital solutions, we've reduced emergency hospital transfers by nearly 63%, improved patient dignity and engagement, and enhanced access to high-quality care.

This award is a testament to the dedication, collaboration and expertise of everyone involved.

Chloe Haigh, Deputy Director of Nursing and Quality at Spectrum Community Health CIC, said: "This achievement is a shared success. We could not have delivered such transformative results without the dedication, expertise and innovation of our partners at HMPPS and CDDFT."

Thank you to our colleagues, partners and patients for helping make this project such a success. Together, we're demonstrating how innovation can improve healthcare outcomes, even in the most challenging environments.

๐Ÿ† Here's to continuing this journey and expanding the benefits of Virtual Wards across the region.

๐Ÿšจ Not Part of the Job. Not Tolerated. ๐Ÿšจ

Today we are showcasing our Zero Tolerance Campaign, sending a clear and uncompromising message that abuse, discrimination, harassment and unwanted behaviour towards our staff will not be accepted.

Every day, our colleagues work in complex and challenging environments, supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. While these settings can be demanding, exposure to unacceptable behaviour should never be seen as "part of the job."

Throughout the next month, we'll be sharing resources, information and practical guidance to empower staff to challenge inappropriate behaviour, report concerns and access support when they need it.

๐ŸŽฅ Watch this video message from our Director of People and Culture to learn more about the campaign and why it matters.

Together, we can create a culture where everyone feels safe, respected and supported.

Today, on International Nurses Day, we celebrate and thank all of our incredible nurses for the compassion, professionalism and dedication they bring every single day.

Our Deputy Director of Nursing & Quality has shared a special video message to recognise the invaluable contribution our nursing teams make to patients, families and colleagues across our organisation.

To all our nurses โ€“ thank you for the care, kindness and expertise you provide every day. Your work makes a lasting difference.

This Day, weโ€™re celebrating Brogan, a Band 6 Nurse at Spectrum, whose courage and compassion truly reflect this yearโ€™s theme: โ€œOur Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.โ€ ๐Ÿ’™

When a vulnerable patient was placed on a palliative pathway, Brogan questioned whether trauma, not informed choice was influencing the decision. Despite being one of the more junior members of the team, she spoke up, advocated for reassessment, and worked to build trust with the patient.

What happened next changed the course of that patientโ€™s care completely.
