It's so easy to feel like you've ruined all your progress when things don't go to plan

Especially when you're already stressed, tired and trying to juggle everything life throws at you

But when we only focus on what we've eaten, we can miss what's actually made things difficult in the first place

When you're exhausted and haven't planned your meals, making food decisions can feel like yet another thing on your ever growing to do list. And then the guilt kicks in, making you feel even worse.

So we took a step back and looked at what had happened, and what we could put in place that would help next time

We made a meal plan, with three balanced meals a day and a couple of backup options for those days when things don't go to plan. We also added reminders to journal and reflect, so she could work through what she was feeling and think about what might help next time.

Progress doesnโ€™t just mean having perfect weeks, cuz let's face it, when does that ever happen?! Progress is also learning from the difficult weeks and putting a plan into place for next time

If you find yourself thinking you've ruined everything after a difficult weekend, I've got a free resource that will help with that

Not gonna lie, becoming a blanket burrito for the next 3 months sounds pretty enticing ๐Ÿ˜…

But if you also have fitness goals you do need to be getting some movement in too. There are a few ways you can do this, some of my personal favourites are:

๐Ÿ Putting on an audio book while I walk, which means I still get my steps in whilst also not missing out on my book
๐Ÿ If I'm reading for a few hours, I try to get up every few chapters and just have a little walk round the house
๐Ÿ A new thing I started doing recently, which is especially good in Autumn, is colour walks. So before I go for my walk, I pick a colour and see how many things I can see in that colour, this is also a good one to do with kids to make the walk a bit more interesting
๐Ÿ If I know I'm gonna be reading for a long time, I'll do a quick little 20 minute home workout or walk before I sit down with my book.

Having fitness goals doesn't mean you have to sacrifice other things you love, you just need to find a way to do both that works for you

If you need a bit more help with this, I have a free guide all about how to balance your nutrition and fitness goals without having to give up your reading time

I used to do this all the time!

I'd sit down with my share bags of crisps and chocolate, tell myself I'll just have a few, and before I knew it, the whole lot would be gone!

And even though I now have a much better relationship with food, I'd still end up eating more than planned if I didn't portion out my reading snacks

Doing this isn't to restrict how much you eat, of course if you want more, you can absolutely go back for more

But by putting your portion into a bowl and then putting the rest away, if you do decide you want more, then it allows you to make a more concious choice rather than just eating mindlessly from the pack

And if you need a bit more help with this, I have a free guide that talks about this, plus some other techniques and tools that can help you start to have a better relationship with food and finally stop starting over every Monday

Just checking...

You don't need to punish yourself or "make up for it" if you ate a bit more than you'd planned at the weekend

Your body still deserves to be fuelled and nourished today ๐Ÿงก

Just one more chapter... and suddenly its 2am ๐Ÿ˜…

Have you ever thought about how some of your habits might show up when it comes to food and fitness too?

Maybe you're someone who loves a plan and gets frustrated when things don't go exactly how you wanted. Or you get excited about a new goal and try to change everything at once, then find it all completely overwhelming a few weeks later

Or maybe you just struggle to fit everything in because you'd quite happily spend your free time curled up with a book (No judgement from me!)

Sometimes it's worth looking at what we're doing and asking ourselves whether there's a way to make things a bit easier.

Which reader are you? Do you recognise any of those habits in yourself when it comes to food and fitness?

If you find it hard to balance your ever growing TBR and your fitness goals, I have a free resource that will help. DM me ๐Ÿ“š and I'll send it over
