Same boots. Completely different reasons. 👀
A runner with tired, heavy legs after a big training week.
An athlete trying to recover between demanding sessions.
Someone needing support with fluid management.
Or a patient where we want to support tissue recovery as part of a wider treatment plan.
They may all end up looking very similar on my treatment couch — zipped into a pair of boots. 😂
But what we’re doing, and why, can be completely different.
AVA | Advanced Recovery for Athletes AVABoots use sequential pneumatic compression — controlled pressure through different chambers of the leg. Depending on the individual, this can be useful for recovery, circulation and supporting fluid movement.
Then we have LED Boots, which combine gentle compression with photobiomodulation — 660nm red light + 850nm near-infrared light — to support the body’s natural cellular and tissue recovery processes.
And Cryo Sport Boots add another recovery option — combining compression with cold therapy, particularly useful when we’re looking at post-training recovery, tired or sore legs and managing the demands of intense exercise.
For athletes and runners, that can form part of a recovery strategy between training and competition.
For lymphatic and fluid-management patients, compression may also have a role — but this is where assessment really matters. Not every swollen leg needs the same treatment, and not every person is suitable for pressotherapy.
And that’s probably the most important bit:
The boots don’t decide the treatment. I do. 😉
Different body. Different problem. Different goal.
Same treatment room. 🩵
